American Hardcore (the film)
just got back from seeing this. i found it fascinating.
has anyone else seen it? |
I really wanna see it too.

well, if you already have a basic knowledge of 80's hardcore, then it's great. but if you're unfamiliar with it, it's going to be confusing as hell. there is no narration, not much of a structure and many of the ideas mentioned aren't explained well. it consists entirely of interviews and live footage. in any case, it rocked my socks.

Refused Are Fucking Dead is a great documentary that everyone should check out. Made by the band too.

I've been meaning to see it, but with the only good record store that would consider stocking it CLOSED, it's gotta wait until I can afford to buy it from the internet... |
thread about this already/?

Saw it a few days ago. I was pretty much pleased with it, and it was very informative. The only thing that I wish they did is expanded into 90's hardcore. but as they beleive and say at the end, it ended around 86 and that punk IS dead. I also wish it went into Husker Du more. Other than that, I got a Bad Brains album because of it, and I'm really looking into getting some Scream

Good stuff. Too bad the movie lacked DKs and The Misfits. They were covered in the book, but I guess they couldn't get the band members for the movie. Ya know, Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only hating each other. And of course all the shit that happened between Jello and the other DKs. So that was a little dissapointing. Other than that it was cool though. They even got Greg Ginn, who is notorious for not doing interviews.

can't wait for the dvd, the only chance i would get to see it. i love the book, though.
