I thought Whitehouse were crap live. I even went back a second time to make sure, and I was right first time.

You go ahead and enjoy yourself though, don't let me stop you.

whorefrost 04.09.2006 05:51 AM

never seen them before so the jury's still out...

Glice 04.09.2006 10:03 AM

Some people really like them. Some people don't. It's a complete mystery. There doesn't seem to be such a thing as a 'good' or 'bad' show. Some people like them, some people don't.

I forgot I've actually seen them 3 times, but once I was E'd up, so it was bound to sound good.

Toilet & Bowels 04.09.2006 10:47 AM

i've seen 'em twice and i enjoyed them immensely. so there.

whorefrost 04.10.2006 03:56 AM

i've heard that they aren't as intense now as they used to be... when and where did you see them, Glice? are you a fan of their records?

i'd be interested. they'll be playing a few shows here next month and i'm not sure yet whether to go.

Was this yesterday? How was it?

I saw them in London each time... different venues. The one with the pills was Slimelight (goth/ industrial club, fairly notorious if you know London nightlife), the others were weird little venues that I've not seen since and can't remember the names of.

I've seen consumer electronics a few times, he seems to turn up supporting a lot of noise shows around the UK. Equally not very interesting to me.

I do like some of their records, yeah, but I don't really need to listen to them all. I occasionally have days where they're really relaxing, I don't listen to them very often at all.

I didn't go and see Whitehouse when they played here. Didn't really appeal... I too have seen Consumer Electronics and it was the most tedious, painful bollocks ever. I like a lot of harsh stuff, sure....but the music was really shrill and tedious. If I could have made out what he was ranting it may have been better but I couldn't understand a word. I hope these guys appreciate how fucking hilarious they are...I'm fairly sure Whitehouse do and I'm sure Throbbing Gristle did.....But there are so many imitators that are just a bit limp.

Glice 04.10.2006 08:08 AM

I concur entirely. Whitehouse were incredibly important to noise, but I don't think they've evolved with time. That is, of course, part of their aesthetic. But that doesn't mean I have to be interested 20 years after they ceased to be vital and interesting.

!@#%$! 04.11.2006 12:40 AM

Who would name their band after the President's house? Are they any good?

!@#$%! 04.11.2006 12:41 AM

ayayayayay...

whorefrost 04.11.2006 03:06 AM

they are named after Mary Whitehouse, the anti censorship campaigner. there was also a British porn mag entitled Whitehouse which was a also a source of inspiration I believe. Google Susan Lawly and you'll find a sweet whitehouse website with an interesting FAQ.
