Guitar Loop Pedals

I gettin a guitar loop pedal soon and I cant wait. Thing is, I dont know whether to get the Boss rc-20xl or the Digitech Jamman. Jamman is like £50 more expensive (= $100) but it has more features (e.g. longer record time, USB connection, etc).

For any1 who knows anything about pedals: which one should I get and why?

PS. for any1 that has the rc-20xl: is it possible to turn the quantize function off, because I heard it wasn't?

NAS

ted_kennedy 10.21.2006 05:37 PM

Don't start that again!

Seriously, guitar pedals?

PS. Nas IS better than Dylan, NUmbnuts! (just joking (but he is)

HaydenAsche 10.21.2006 05:43 PM

I don't have a loop pedal. I rarely play guitar. I can't help you out.

ted_kennedy 10.21.2006 05:49 PM

Well get one then you mutherfucker! So you can help me out and shit!

Just kidding. Anyone else have one. I cant wait to get mine. THe Jamman holds 24 mins of loop as standard, and 6 HOURS with a 2 Gb CF card.

I swear, you would think no sonic youth fans even played guitar.

i was going to get the boss loop station a few years back but passed, i didn't think a loop pedal was that essential.

i'm sure you can search the internet for sound samples of both, if that's what concerning you...there's also websites and forums dedicated to reviewing pedals.

I've got a Danelectro Reel to Reel pedal. It's nice. Get's that old echo and reverb that they used to have to get through fucking around with the reels in the 60s/70s. Also has a switch to repeat what you last played, hence making layers and layers upon layers. It's quite neat.

Well, what exactly do you want in a looping pedal? All of them are unique in their own ways.

ted_kennedy 10.23.2006 02:28 AM

I wanna be able to loop for ages, and to loop layers over many layers. I also want pc connectivity. I also want a pedal that wont break down.

The Jamman sounds great but Im worried that itll break.

king_buzzo 10.23.2006 02:42 AM

the jamman is good but its too expensive

I think the RC-20 and Jamman both have that. I'd go for the RC-20 though, just because I have one Boss pedal, and it is built like a frigging tank. Plus Boss Pedals have 5 year warranties.

Hey ted!!!!!!!!!!

Please help me out by reading this Washington Post article so that you can best answer my question.

Is this woman a racist?
Why I Gave Up On Hip-Hop "Hip-hop was still largely about the break-beat and dance moves and brothers who battled solely on wax. It was Whodini, Eric B. & Rakim, Dana Dane, EPMD, A Tribe Called Quest. And always and forever, Lonnae Loves Cool James. I knew all LL Cool J's b-sides and used to sleep under a poster of him that hung on my wall. I still have a picture of the two of us that was taken one Howard homecoming weekend.

I figured I'd ask an expert like yourself.
