anyone pick up the new beck album?
 

Any beck fans here? Wondering if the new album is worth buying. Im seeing him at the LA Weekly Detour festival this weekend and was wondering how the new stuff is. Ive only heard nausea and 10000 beats per minute or whatever its called.

I wonder too. Nausea is really not that good. I was also disappointed with Guero, apart from a coupla songs. He's falling into a routine.

So far I'll say this:
Not much progression from Guero. Alot of the songs sound just alike. and Im kinda getting bored with Beck's "Odelay" sound.
Aside from all this it's a good listen. I just expect a little more from Beck

But I cant even stress the coolness of the artwork. Every cd comes with different stickers!

I was really surprised this album came out so soon after Guero since recently he has been waiting 2-3 years between albums. I am starting to wonder if maybe a lot of these songs are Guero outtakes? Its possible. Also, I noticed with this album he abonded his trend of alternating acoustic/softer albums (Mutations, Sea Change) and more electro-rock stuff (Odelay, Midnight Vultures, Guero).

I'm thinkin' I'll venture on down to my local and spend abit of cash today on some albums I'm in need of. This album probably wont be out here yet, though.

I dunno, I like the album. I spun most of the time I was at work. So far my favorite song is probably we dance alone, but it all seems good. It doesn't cary itself as much as guero, but in light of it's newness I currently like it more.

Also, on the odelay sound notes... I don't really consider guero or information to be in the odelay vein really. I kinda hear that and think it's cop-out for saying 'it's a beck album that sounds like beck... but odelay'. Just because there's hip hop influence doesn't mean he's trying for odelay. HE;s been saying this one's a hip hop album, which i can see. I dunno, at least to me odelay is in the it's own class of undefinable. It's just beck... and fuckin amazing.

Upon the first listen I think it's his best since Mutations. The songs sound looser than they have for awhile.

i am listening to it right now and i really like it. i definitely enjoy it better than guero. for some reason, i could never get into that album. my favorite albums are sea change and mutations, but i don't expect to constantly put albums like that out. i think the reason i like the information better than guero is it seems to flow better and not jump around as much?

Hmm, sounds intriguing...I may have to pick this one up. I couldn't really get into Guero either except for a few songs.

I say everyone should go buy it just for the artowork.

i havent got this album yet, but on this note has anyone got the new Lemonheads album????, its pretty good, not great not worth buying.

damn i can't find it here in italy,is there a different release date or they are just lazy-shitheads who did not put it on the shelves yet?
