Netlab/Wrong Music Net label.

This fantastic netlabel site offers free download and streaming of EP's, LP's and live sets. All good experimental electronica. I'd advise streaming the Voltek live set and downloading the zipped 'Nwodtlem - Cleaning Out The Harddrive' LP.

And when you get there, make sure you move your cursor over those pink squares.

cool

Hip Priest 09.05.2006 07:10 PM

It's awesome. I only found out about it tonight, through another forum, and I'm blown away. What a site.

First launched in June 2006, Net-Lab is a collaborative project run by members of InspireBox Media and the Wrong Music Corporation. Net-lab is an independent resource, free of commercial pressure. The site operates primarily from Brighton and Devon, UK.

Net-Lab's objective is to release a prolific collection of innovative media including music (primarily electronic), text, video and animation from around the world, in a freely distributable and re-distributable manner.

The site currently features work by an array of artists that you will recognise as already having excellent quality releases on labels including Wrong Music, Adadaat, Sublight, and Planet Mu. In the short time it has been publicly available for viewing, Net-Lab has distributed a collection of material including releases from Shitmat, Ebola, Chris Moss Acid and DJ Jo Quaid 5, plus compilations featuring The Gross Consumer, Twocsinak and more.

Although the site is still in its infancy, it already serves thousands of individual downloads, for which we have received an extremely positive public reaction.

Intellectual copyright for the material distributed by Net-Lab is retained solely by its originator, but released freely (both in terms of money, and in law) to do with as you wish. We welcome redistribution of Net-Lab releases on online peer-to-peer networks like SoulSeek, Ares, DC++ hubs, and Limewire. You may broadcast and/or publicly display material distributed by Net-Lab although we do ask that credit be given to the original artist and Net-Lab itself. If you intend to include any material featured on the site as part of a radio broadcast or as part of another form of redistributable media, then we do ask that you send a brief e-mail to us informing us of the probable time of broadcast, plus any other information you can provide.

Net-Lab will continue to expand and distribute material throughout 2006 (and into the foreseeable future) thanks to support & hosting from InspireBox Media. Our vast majority of releases will be freely downloadable, although we do intend to provide some purchasable media, bonus material, and merchandise that will be available to buy online and at supporting performances / venues in the UK & Europe.

Special thanks go to the work of Ben and Hannah for their massive organisational achievement in providing an ever expanding base of free media for download, and to artists who have contributed to the overall high production values and innovation on the site.

If you have any media in whatever form that you feel is innovative and wish to contribute to Net-Lab then please do contact us. We are always willing to view any material submitted.

We very much welcome your views and opinions on releases on Net-Lab, so please feel free to drop us an e-mail with your comments.

I don't know if you know but archive.org has a bunch of netlabels. I signed up there, but haven't got anything up yet.

Hip Priest 09.05.2006 07:16 PM

Does it cost money to sign up? At netlab I'm downloading Shinra's Demons LP at the moment.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 09.05.2006 07:19 PM

nope. its all free.

nomadicfollower 09.05.2006 07:22 PM

Awesome.
Getting Robert Steady - Ask No Lies (it seemed to catch my interest)

It's interesting finding sites like this.

Hip Priest 09.05.2006 07:22 PM

I'll check it out then. Thanks.

Shinra's Demons LP is cool from what I've heard thus far.

Net Lab very proudly welcomes Shinra's debut release, "Demons" as its tenth Release since first launching. We've had Demons on our playlist since the beginning of last month and are in love with its carefully structured beats and melodies. The release spans a range of material from great acid work like Acidreb1 to crushingly fast beats and menacing melodies of tracks like Bazoo, Bones, and Demon. You WILL love this.

No, I didn't know there was a song with that title. What I did was took some nirvana and merged it with peter brotzmann, then messed with it a bit. It's okay I guess.

Пятхъдесят Шест 09.05.2006 10:29 PM

Yes, after making me jump about ten feet in the air, I played around with those pink squares. Entertainment.

Thank you. I'll check that out now.

Hip Priest 09.17.2006 06:23 PM

I've been waiting for this one to be released, and I'm downloading it now:

RomanianMyth - Folk Language

In "Folk Language", RomanianMyth (Mircea L. Popa) brings us an experimental mix between folk music and noise, merging the beauty of classical and traditional instruments with harsh digital noise textures. Like the industrialisation of a rural landscape, tracks like "Forever 2" and "Folk Hearts" descend from subtle melodic instrumentation to total sonic demolition.

Sounds intriguing.

porkmarras 09.17.2006 06:26 PM

I'll sure check it out Hip Priest.
