they want to make people think about what?that's the main problem.i mean,james brown write songs to make people think about sex?well,that's ok with me.

Like people generally don't think anyway.It has been proven that it is perfectly possible to live and breathe without music and still have a very active brain.I don't know how these individuals manage to.

yep,music helps keeping my brain alive and prevents insanity.maybe "provocative" music like avant garde performances are a good gym for the brain,but i find most of them pretentious and boring,actually.

Of course music makes people think, but I think what porkie is saying is that a good lyricist doesn't write lyrics with that as the intent, making people think is more of a biproduct.

i don't know what you refer to by "make people think" but if you meant preachy lyrics and crap, a bullet up the asshole is not a bad option. of course i might contradict myself at a later date and defend preachy lamers. now if you're talking about bright eyes, tying them up naked on an ant's nest sounds like the right thing to do.

No,what i meant is musicians who take the arrogant liberty of assuming that their lyrics AND music make people think interesting things while the facts show that the delivery is poor.And people think interesting things anyway.Music is beautiful enhancement.
