Awesome Tapes From Africa
Wondering how many of you are aware of this blog. I come from time to time and occasionally find some really good shit. I think it's a bit hit or miss.
Check it: awesometapesfromafrica.blogspot.com Listened to the first song from the Kine Lam album and it sounds like Captain Beefheart meets Fela Kuti. |
I think Marras or someone linked to this in the blogs of interest thread, but it definitely deserves one of its own. Fine work.

This is great, thanks I think it was TnB who posted this originally, its always good to dip into. I cant say i follow everything in it, but its usually enjoyable for those of us who arent afficianados of the various styles and sounds on display. |

Please explain this neg rep comment: "Please leave me alone. I love you but yer pms are driving me nuts." Neg rep me all you want, but I would just like an explanation as to what the hell you're talking about. |
If I knew of a way to digitise tapes faster, I'd love to start a similar thing dedicated to music from Bangladesh. Not enough time.

Saw Kharia Arby on the Weekend at ATP, awesome set.
Does anyone have this, can't find it anywhere on the internet ![]() |
fucking shit, thanks a lot jonathan, now I got to get a bigger iPod..
|
brotha is bad. fucking shit.. this is the record of my dreams.. I could be no happier in this life then to spend my nights in a smoked filled Tej Bet in Sardis playing Ethiopian music on the guitar in a small Muzika Gwadenoch playing this music of Ethiopian folk, blues, jazz, and even some reggae in there, with a beautiful girl singing away all the troubles of the day until the new rising Son shines brightly to assure it can go on again the next night. Lord have His Mercy I am captivated by this blog |

wasn't that an amazing set?! the surprise of the weekend for me. |
Yeah, it really was great. Pretty gutted I only saw half because I went to see Gang Gang Dance.
I'm now quite tempted to go to her show in London with Prince Rama later this week. |

That Aster Aweke is unreal. ATP people, did anyone see Hayvanlar Alemi? |
Yeah, I watched half an hour of their set. From what I remember it was pretty good.
