Should I spend 25 bucks on Blonde on Blonde?

Simply Vinyl, 180 gram, new reissue. Looks delicious. I already have a 1980s-era pressing whose vinyl is NM.

Trasher02 08.04.2006 10:37 AM

yes

Cantankerous 08.04.2006 10:43 AM

no!

gmku 08.04.2006 10:52 AM

Yeah, I'm beginning to see the light. I did this for Trout Mask, actually, but only cuz my first copy has some annoying surface noise. There's nothing wrong sonically with my BoB copy. The cover's just a little weird looking, like I said, like it was printed too light.

foldback 08.04.2006 10:55 AM

Go for it, man. You'll only regret not getting it.

Savage Clone 08.04.2006 10:56 AM

If you have a M- copy already, I would get something you haven't heard before.

porkmarras 08.04.2006 10:57 AM

Steal it.

What I've learned so far today, from talking w/ the store owner, is there's another new reissue floating around out there on the Sundazed label that's the original mono mix that's been unavailable for years. That would seem to be the one to get. This one on Simply Vinyl, he thinks, is stereo. Still not a bad find, but since I can't have everything I want, I might hold out for that mono copy to show up.

kingcoffee 08.04.2006 02:24 PM

Man, definitely go for it. I love Blond on Blond. It's one of my favorite Dylan albums. If it's in good condition, then you'd be fucking crazy NOT to get it.

krastian 08.04.2006 05:26 PM

Nah, not if you already have it.

Savage Clone 08.04.2006 06:25 PM

Hold out for the mono.
Simply Vinyl reissues are fantastic, but you will at least be able to hear it in a new way of you get the mono version.

What's the difference if you already have the original pressing?

And why you put two capital B's on Bob?

Both serious questions that I need answered.

BoB = Blonde On Blonde

Norma J 08.04.2006 11:02 PM

HAHA.

Now for the other question.

kingcoffee 08.04.2006 11:07 PM

Get the album! Do it! Do it now!

My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums
Should I put them by your gate
Oh, sad-eyed lady, should I wait ?

i dont know how the hell that turned into a link!

acousticrock87 08.04.2006 11:52 PM

There are two sides to my opinion. On the one hand, my gut says it's an unnecessary buy and a waste of money, since you have it already. On the other hand, I would still get it (if I cared about vinyl and was as big of a collector as you are, that is.)

So, my answer: No, don't get it. But enjoy it when you do.

gmku 08.09.2006 04:30 PM

Nearly 80 per cent of you advised I should get the album.

I took your advice.

It's great. Not only do you get 180gm vinyl but you also get the originial 9-photo layout in the gatefold--meaning those banned photos are back in the layout!

It is, after all, #5 on my list of all-time favorite albums. If I can't have more than one decent copy of my favorite albums, then I can hardly call myself a serious collector.

Cantankerous 08.09.2006 04:58 PM

if you're happy with it i suppose it was a good buy then.

golden child 08.09.2006 05:08 PM

dont do it!
