Pixies possible new material
 

I was on frankblack.net and saw this article-

This is pretty much a reiteration of the previous news item, but now in Spanish and with a more media-friendly headline. Oh, and quite a bit more definite.

Contrary to the consensus among music news sites, the Pixies will play around with some new songs. If they don't like it, they don't record. The notes fade like meteors in the atmosphere. If they do like it, well, expect a new Pixies album to make planetfall or at least a few fragments in the shape of new songs.

Though not confirmed, these are probably not the songs written to sound like old Pixies songs that Black had called 'fakey', and so it's quite possible a new Pixies album will take them in an entirely new direction. Regardless, it is still the same four Pixies playing, and they will doubtless all lend their own style to the songs in addition to their experience since the band broke up.

thats good to hear. I want a new pixies record. I was dissapointed to hear that they weren't going to release becuase of the "fakey" material, but if FB likes them enough to play them live i bet it will be good.

Didn't Frank Black just say somewhere that they would NOT record a new album!? I thought he said that they tried to write some new stuff but it didn't work out so well or something.

Right, and the new My Bloody Valentine album comes out next week.

Leading news sources reported in early July that "Pixies frontman Frank Black had tried to write new tracks for the band since they reformed for live appearances two years ago, but he was forced to ditch his efforts when he and bassist Kim Deal quickly realised the songs were a pale imitation of their 1980s cult classics."

Frank Black never said that they would not record a new album. he said that attempts to record new Pixies material fell through.

I want a new album. I want to hear that. I bet it will be really good. Frank Blacks latest solo material was excellent, so I'll bet bottoms to dollars that the new Pixies record will be excellent.

I'm personally sick of hearing about new pixies songs every six months. I've been haering for 3 years or some shit now. If it's goign to happen, cool... be really, every six months---golly gee! New pixies songs... 6 months, no songs and then--hey the pixies are working on new songs. Yep. Heard that before.

Frank Black blamed the fact that the new album would'nt come out on Kim Deal, he said the songs she wanted to do weren't Pixies songs... So Effe Frank Black long live Kim Deal.

Sounds like fun. Frank Blacks last record was great, and I would love to hear what new Pixies material would sound like.
