sad news. portal of sorrow is excellent. good album to go out on.

he left a great fuckin legacy of black metal.

You think? As much as I like him I didn't like anything about the new one when I listened to it. Might have to give it another try. Curious what his next project will sound like.

the one before i didn't think was too great. but i loved the new one. the female vocals really worked.

Nocturnal Poisening and Funeral of Being are two of my favourite BM albums ever. I had similar issues with Portal of Sorrow and had to sort of forget it was a Xasthur album before I could really enjoy it.

Any of you got an opinion on Moevot? I actually found out about them via an interview I read with Xasthur, where he mentioned him as a major influence. I don't tend to go for the dark/ambient thing but anyway, utterly bleak as fuck.

Never heard Moevot before, but I tend to like Les Legions Noires stuff, so I might have to get into it. Very grim.

Wasn't this kind of old news already? What's the album with marissa nadler like?
I have couple of xasthur albums, neither of which I've listened in the last couple of years. On is better than the other but both are very good.

why's he quit and does he plan to do some other kind of music thing next?

moevot is good, i found out about them by watching black metal videos on youtube.

something about not having inspiration and motivation anymore to do xasthur. he'll keep on making music, but not metal.

i'll mostly remember him for kicking a heckler in the face at a sunno))) show in amsterdam a few years back.


haven't heard any moevot yet. will investigate.
