aussie rap fail
|
that certainly is a fail, how the hell did you find that crap
here is a pass http://www.youtube.com/user/hilltoph...14/StzfhFx4Cjk |
i saw it on another forum
hth are pretty cool i've heard them before, except honestly i am not over all impressed by australian rappers, there was this guy who moved to canada. j butta or something like that and like half of his tracks had some kind of horrible butter metaphors and hilarious catchlines like "don't confuse me for margarine" |
i have never heard of him and i have quite a collection of aussie hiphop

do you have a favorite album for people to check out?

yeah but it is a small indy one, i would have to upload it |
oz hiphop is nothing like american hiphop and when people realise that, they are more able to appreciate the genre. Ithink for a long time there were a lot of crappy oz artists trying to be american, but there are now a lot of really awesome artists just making great oz hiphop.
|
yeah alot of people don't understand that.

i don't think non american artists should try to sound like they're from from new york, but don't go as far as saying it's nothing like american hiphop,it wouldn't be hiphop then, it's still an american genre regardless of where it's made and what you do with it, like when people say "white rap" no such thing as far as i'm concerned.
and most rappers in america are still trying to sound like it's 1994 so it's great when different countries present newer styles, although the majority of the rap audience will ignore anything anything non american so it's hard to influence the scene |
except in australia where australian hiphop is far more popular because it talks about things that having meaning to people here, it is songs about us for us. like most arts, theatre, film, viz arts, sculpture, it is how communities look at themselves.

EDIT: double posting is cool. |
From my experiences production wise Aussie hip hop sounds like an even weaker version of that turn of the century "take it back to da old skool" US hip hop. Although I saw this guy Ivens play and it was intense:
