Instead of guitar strings
is there anything else worth stringing an electric guitar with?
if there are, what are the effects on sound? ive heard of chicken wire but i can only imagine it sounds dischrdant which isnt quite what im looking for,. im looking for bright heavy powerfull and a little different. cellos sometimes use steel strings? would anyone know what that would sound like on guitar? |
try a different gauge.. tried plastic wire and it sounds like shit..
i remember rubbing alcohol over the strings and playing with a coin...that was cool.. |
there are all sorts of options within the string world:
acoustic strings nickel strings steel strings different gauges flat wound strings round wound strings ground wound strings plus different picks- nylon, copper, brass, steel I like brass picks |
I use 52-10 strings, so they stay decent

playing 9s is like playing wet noodles for me
|
Yeah I just use the yellow plastic pics...I break strings too much as it is.
I used to use thicker picks but it's becoming ridiculous... I'll put on new strings, play a show, then play the next show and I'll break one. I need to get those graffite things for the bridge again. where the strings rest on, that seemed to help |
Probably your bridge, or could be your pick attack.

trye stringing the shit with cello strings
the ones that are sheepgut and wound |

I just play fierce, not like, sex pistols typical punk fierce...just lots of heavy strumming like you would on acoustic, lots of bar chords and shit. Then my other style is psych surf, lots of tremelo and triplets haha |
use intestines
elephant trunks rubber bands |
nylons won't work with an electric guitar. You'll get barely any volume, if at all.

You need to use 11-13 gauge string flat wounds for surf ideally. Dick Dale used 16s!! |
