Manchester, Uk
First days...
Hi, I've just arrived to Manchester with my girlfriend...And I'd like to ask someone with similar music taste to show us some good places etc...Drinks are on the house...I mean us. :) Any help appreciated. (And btw. I travel with my guitar and stuff so if anyone needs guitarist or just want to play some noisy jam...don't hesitate to ask!) Nights out in Manchester
I'm going to Manchester Record stores in Manchester Manchester is full of shite These are some previous threads we've had on Britain's shittest city. We could always do with a new one. I'm not in Manchester, I'm afraid, but good luck. |
Those threads are probably as useful as a chocolate teapot now I look at them. Sorry about that.
|
Isn't that coldest part of Britian? Sorry man.
|
We've never been to UK before...I hope it won't be so bad here in Manchester. :( You imply that it's the worst choice for us, don't you?
|
live music:- night & day, oldham st. ruby lounge (not sure of street name) deaf institute, off oxford rd.
pubs:- the temple, oxford st, big hands, oxford rd. just a couple to get you started, don't live there myself but studied there for a couple years. |
go down oldham street, there are plenty of record shops down there including vinyl exchange and picadilly records. as far as venues goes i seem to remember a pub called the star and garter had bands on a lot but i am outta touch with the scene there. you could always hop on a train and go the hours travel to leeds which has a way better music scene than manchester.
|
Thank you guys for suggestions and some inspiration...Lookin forward to visit Leeds soon.

so it looks like we're screwed, aren't we?

I don't remember any of the bars I went to, because it was the afternoon and I was well drunk. But I know I had a great time. One of them had really random kitsch junk on the walls, like those 60's/70's home-craft string art pieces? Made with thread and pins. Manchester was one of my favourite cities!
