So I'm going to a festival (again) - which acts should I check out?
The 'again' is because I went to exactly the same festival this time last year and started the exact same thread.
Heres the lineup: http://www.bestival.net/html/artists/2009lineup Definates: Kraftwerk Massive Attack Michael Nyman Squarepusher Future Sound of London Dan le sac vs. Scroobius Pip any suggestions and I may well go check them out, though it would be nice if you wrote a sentence or two to let me know why they're worth my time. thanks! |
dan le sac for sure. seen them twice, two times nice...
the horrors are quite nice live. |
One is enough for the Horrors, and that once will probably be at MBV's ATP.

Pole Wave Machines Kid Carpet Rusko Skream more |
I still haven't got a ticket for this yet! I should be coming back from France Saturday morning, and I'm just hoping I can get a tout or something.
I saw Fujiya & Miyaji at Bestival a couple of years ago and they were alright, Joker and Plastician are a definite if you enjoy dubstep, and 65 Days of Static put on a good show when I saw them. Bat for Lshes might be worthing checking out as well. |
Baddies
65 days of static Joe Gidion and the shark sqaurepusher 2manydj's bat for lashes |
Pivot are great live. Saw them earlier this year and they blew me away, you should check them

They sound pretty great - thanks! |
This is not here--do you need a guide to like every moment in your life or what!?
|
Oh do fuck off.
|
My intentions are good. I'm trying to get you to act a little more self-assured. Yr not exactly exuding self-confidence with all these questions about what to do, you know.
|
I don't see how this has anything to do with self confidence. If I didn't ask questions about what to do, what to see, I wouldn't have done half the stuff I have loved doing over the years. Whats more, the inability to ask questions is 100% due to a lack of self confidence in my experience. I do go out and explore of my own accord, you are in no place to judge that. I also care what other people have enjoyed, because I don't beleive I know it all like yourself. It's not like i've started a thread entitled "tell me what music I should like", I know that very firmly, I just want to know what others have really enjoyed so I can go and judge it for myself. If you ONLY follow your own nose you will ALWAYS miss out on a hell of a lot, and that's pretty sad.
|
On the other hand, if you have a big nose, it could open a lot of doors.
|
I do have a fucking massive nose.
|
i'd see fleet foxes and Altern8, big nose
i'm guessing you know about them already |

My nose and I are grateful of these suggestions. |
man there's a lot of stuff there which is of either zero interest to me, or that i've never heard of.
i'd go to see Pole though. |
Diplo - Has remixed the likes of MIA, and puts out quite a few funk-laden technoey tracks.
DJ Derek - Legendary Bristol DJ, plays a lot of classic reggae and soul. The Pretty Things - them of "S.F.Sorrow" fame/infamy - this sixties group (contemporaries of the Stones etc) may well still cut the mustard. |
