TOM MOTHERFUCKING VIOLENCE!
I would fucking faint if they played a set like that (Tom Violence, Catholic Block, Rats, Pink Steam, Eric's Trip, Jams Run Free, Kool Thing) in Toronto on August 8th! So any other details? |

Other details... There was much crowd surfing and diving done by a guy toward the front, which was fun to watch...They seemed to love the audience. Kool Thing was a highlight--I was hoping that they would play this! I got the last copy of the book "Road Movies" by Lee Ranaldo, with a bonus CD, and the book is signed by Leah Singer, the photographer... Thurston made a reference to the Edie Brickell show, which was still going on after they stopped playing...I heard some of it from the street as I was walking to my car....it made me remember the 1980's. They invited us all to Massachusetts. ...It was the best SY show that I've seen, out of the 7 or 8 that I've been to.... |
Awesome...

Sounds amazing, I'm hoping this month and a half goes by fast... and I hope I know when Toronto tickets are going on sale soon!

yeah it was definatly a great show, i wish they would have played expressway or something from nurse or murray street though. it was really funny when some guy was screaming at Lee for a while to play Mote...he was like "YOU BETTER PLAY MOTE IM NOT EVEN FUCKING KIDDING!" lol

I think Incinerate was played before Turquoise Boy, not that it matters...and I could be wrong. Man that show was fucking cool.... oh, cool!! The book is signed by Lee as well. Glad I bought that! |

I didn't hear that... I followed this news photographer who was pushing his way to the front...I haven't been that close to the front since the Rhode Island show in 2000 with Stereolab. |
Sine I'm going to be visiting Toronto for 5 days around the time I'm seeing SY there, I can waste my day to arrive at the venue early to make sure I'm front row, or very close to front :D

I really am glad they played almost the whole Rather Ripped album. I haven't been this excited about Sonic Youth in years....
Oh, and by the way, another detail-- Someone made the comment that Kim is sporting leather on her chest--not true! Kim's breasts were in view and her skin is actually rather smooth and very nice. |

I'm on page 30 or so...the CD is excellent. You normally don't think "ambient" when you think SY. |
