Yeah, I saw that a while ago on O'malley's site.

Those candles must be really bright, hence the sunglasses.

Thanks a lot, I've been obsessed with all things Keiji Haino lately. Isn't he fucking great?

Savage Clone 06.23.2006 09:23 AM

He sure is cool looking.
He sure can play the guitar.
He sure has some cool glasses.
He's pretty great, all right.

drrrtyboots 06.23.2006 09:24 AM

I remember reading on this board about someone seeing him play like a 3 hour set in the states in the past year. Or maybe that was my imagination. But either way, i'd die for that.

Savage Clone 06.23.2006 09:27 AM

I have heard of 18+ hour Fushitsusha performances!

There was a four hour solo set in Newcastle last year. Which, save for two ciggie breaks, I witnessed the entireity of.

And let me assure you, it was beyond words. I was hallucinating at one point, without any drugs or drink.

And to qualify the above statement, I hate people talking about gigs in quasi-religious terms. It's ridiculous and wrong. Usually it's a rubbish>quite good rock band that are, ultimately, quite average. Ergo, my cynicism precedes me.

Cynicism or not, I envy you. I would do anything right now to see him I think.

I have a friend who bears a passing resemblance to David Late Tibet.
That painting cracked me up!

Even though they don't look anything like each other, this picture always reminds me of Angus Maclaise somehow.I wonder if you guys ever listened to Angus's music.I have an mp3 of him playing with Tony Conrad that is pure bliss!

Savage Clone 06.23.2006 09:40 AM

I named my new band after his soundtrack work.

thanks for the links, I too have been obsessed with haino lately, I put this thread up earlier but not many people seemed interested:

http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/showthread.php?t=3193

it contains a pretty cool clip of Fushitshusha at the end.

porkmarras 06.23.2006 09:43 AM

What an odd and talented musician he was.I love the story of him arriving at a VU rehearsel 1/2 an hour late and making up for that by playing for that long a time after all the others finished.
