currently england are on 262 for 5 in the first innings. i think we are gonna win it this year as australia have not been that good of lte and have lost a lot of good players in the last few years.

Australia aren't what they used to be, but they're by no means going to be a pushover. I think it's quintessential English optimism to think we're going to win. I mean, we're certainly not going to win if Pietersen is going to throw away wickets like he has today.

Don't get me wrong, there is little would make me happier than for us to take the ashes, but I refuse to give over to optimism quite yet.

Prior and Flintoff going out at the close was a gutter. I would've probably put us on top, especially after the Collingwood and Pieterson partnership, but them going and then Prior and Flintoff makes me think the momentum could've switched a bit in Australia's favour. not really the collapse the tv pundits talked about but definitely a missed opportunity.

Although anyone else think Collingwood should've been out LBW?
