Everyone check out this song "Lushlife" by Bowery Electric
Basically this band used to be a bit shoegaze-y, but on their last album in 2000, they decided to make a triphop album. Imagine Portishead and Slowdive making an album together, and you get something as orgasmic (and lush, oh yes I love puns) as this. I'm addicted.

I don't know. Sounds like Suzanne Vega.

The album that that song was on was Bowery Electric's worst release, but, if you like it, then you might be interested to know that Martha Schwendener (who was 50% of Bowery Electric) released a solo album called Sola under the name Echostar in 2003, and that fits the Lush meets Portishead description even better than Lushlife. Pre-Lushlife, Bowery Electric ruled. |
I've never heard any other Bowery Electric... they get even better? Amazing. =o

Alright, so I liked Beat quite a bit, but I still think Lushlife is better. Great band either way, though. I love "Postscript", I need to find more music just like that song to put it on while I fall asleep.

Lushlife was a pile of crap.

This sounds like TV incidental music. Ugh. Next!
