...before realizing my stupid friend had the usb connectors'cables on the mobo messed up. I guess some kind of wrong electric input killed them.

Now I'm torn between these options

1) Go back to the store where I bought the first one (they gave me the 2nd as replacement under warranty just a few days ago) and look like either a REALLY STUPID "user" or like a shady mofo who has found a way to gain money recicling fried flashdrives or something...

2) ask the friend to contribute some euros to buy a new one...coz, you know, I was helping him restoring his sytsem after a good ol' format C:\. Good thing the only stuff on them was a load of useful shareware thingies. Daemon tools, objectdock, vlc player, codecs, xp sp3, etc etc. No porn. No irreplaceable documents.

3) be strong and buy one with my money without asking for help.

Did he not even offer to help you ? Was it evident to him that he shouldnt have put his hands in there ?

I mean, he knows that the first time something happened to the flashdrive (we were at his house), then I brought his pc to my garage to "set it up" with more calm.
He's a pretty "precise" guy, I bet followed all instructions without noticing the mistake at all (obviously).

If he fucked them up, have him pay you. If he's a reasonable friend, I'm sure he'll say yes. If not, castrate him.

just think of the children, how could you do something like that to them? just think about that while you prepare your noose.
