Question: What thread did you join the board just to reply to/post?

I guess the whole fact that I joined the board just to give my whole EJS/sister spiel made me start to think (always a bad thing): We all have to start somewhere, what was your reason to join the board? Was there something that pissed you off so bad you had to comment on it? Did you have questions that you felt the sonic youth community could answer? Was there a percieved lack of bullies ripping apart each post and you felt you could stir the pot, so to speak? Were you one of those people who reads every sentence of threads and checks for grammer usage and punctuation? I'm probably going to get ripped to shreds for this one...

easy. how else am I expected to find out what color panties kim is wearing?

actually, that's a lie. I'm not a poster so much as an extension of the .php software itself.

I hope this helps.

:)

Rob Instigator 04.30.2009 01:48 PM

I joined back in 1998-99 before I ever read a thread. I was hoping to find pics of sonci youth loving ladies with big butts I was using a commodore 64

al shabbray 04.30.2009 01:51 PM

as far as I remmeber I transferred from being a lurker to an active poster because I was searching for a recording of a SY Gig I saw, because of the special Kool Thing version, they ve played...

edit: no, it must have been earlier...ok, my memory isnt good enough for this kind of things
but it was around the time murray street was released. I remmeber that the official page was short before "under construction" for ages

I don't remember the month or the year, it was around the time Murray Street came out. I never really used to read the forum much until Savage Clone posted something about liking Loop and being in Salamander, so as a consequence I payed more attention to the general chat of other posters. I was very friendly back then, and posting on a forum intimidated me a bit 'cause I was only really used to chat regularly to a girl from Birmingham and a guy from Nottingham, as well as the normal email/messanger interaction with family and friends.

I think I had an account on the old board that I rarely if ever posted under, but joined up again here to bug Chris Lawrence about the discog additions I had sent about a year beforehand :p

People on this forum are very opinionated and generally bitchy (I'm no exception). Don't take it so hard...convince yourself that your personal opinion of music is fact and you'll fit right in. ;)

I think my first time posting was around the time Murray Street came out- just a little bit though, then I disappeared for awhile, then I came back and started posting a lot.

I doubt anyone remembers my original name- Tapeworm Donor. Then I came back as JulianIsDead because I really liked Bauhaus at the time. Then when the new forum came around I had a band called the Spectral Presence and so I started using SpectralJulian as my name elsewhere. Here I decided to make a really sucky joke on my old name combined with my new name.

If I were to change my name I'd just shrink it down to Julian. I don't dig Bauhaus or my name much anymore, but whatever.

Hah. Yeah. I really like some of their early more punk-rock numbers, and I think Ash's guitar playing is pretty rad, but they also made a lot of really sucky music and Peter Murphy's act gets tiring.

I joined about 9 years ago, I don't even remember why. Probably to mainly talk about shellac.

Toilet & Bowels 04.30.2009 05:34 PM

i don't think the board has been going 9 years has it? i joined in 2002

atsonicpark 04.30.2009 05:37 PM

Hm. It may have been 8 years ago now that I'm thinking about it. I remember that I was 15, and I'll be 23 in a few weeks.

mil_pl 05.01.2009 06:39 AM

I don't remember.
I don't remember.

terminal pharmacy 05.01.2009 06:46 AM

fucked if i know it was years ago

Death & the Maiden 05.01.2009 06:47 AM

It was at the start of 2008, and I started a thread because I wanted to know what SY albums from 1994 onwards I should get.

SuperCreep 05.01.2009 06:51 AM

I think I originally came here for a Washing Machine-era bootleg I was looking for and then decided to sign up since this place looked pretty awesome (especially compared to other shitholes of music forums I go to.)

I got bored working on my thesis and decided to register before admins disabled it again.
