i wrote a song and it sounded like sonic youth..
iv honestly done this twice now.
i wrote a song the other day, and it turns out to be exactly the same as the intro to 'no garage/anit-orgasm' and i really did write my song before i heard theirs if that song has the lyrics 'hollywood whore crashed out on the floor' as well ima be pissssssssed and i once wrote a song that sounded exactly like the 'rocky' bit in renegade princess i was gonna get everyone from the bands in my local area to guest on it and release it on 12" with a massive fuck off noise jam at the end with about 50 people contributing to it. but i had to scrap that. i shud copywrite my songs as soon as i write them to save this happening again. or i shud try to stop emulating my heroes quite so closely. its annoying. |
Gotta speak man, the silence you're playing right now sounds almost exactly like John Cage's 4:33

I only sound like Sonic Youth when I tune my guitar weird. Otherwise I try very hard not to imitate my favourite artists as I don't think their music should just be repeated by someone less competent heh.

I found a potato chip that looks like Thurston.
|
my penis kinda looks like Steve, back in 99.
|
but sometimes it also morphs into a Thurston on a heavy Mc Donald's diet.

Oooh, you're in My Boy/My Girl. I've heard of you!
I've done the same thing, too. I wrote a song for my band, which turned out to sound like a PJ Harvey song i'd never heard. But shhhh! I think we're gonna discuise it and hope no-one knows! |
raging_nelly, your band rules. Good luck with that!

The first time I ever tuned to whatever on my guitar and played sounded like the beginning of "Confusion Is Sex." I thought it sounded awesome and then I got Confusion Is Sex and was particularly blown away by that song (and, well, everything else on it).
