I Need Some Help W/ A Sample. Badly

so i'm trying to find an audio sample of kevin costners loooong speech from the movie JFK. particularly the part where he explains the magic bullet theory. but i've had no luck, and i don't really want to just hold a mic up to the tele and record it like that. so if anyone can help me that'd be awesome w/ a capital AWE. thanks. :)

Did a google search, and I can't find the sample online.. but do you have the movie on dvd? I assume you do. Does your computer play dvd's?

Well, here's a quick and easy solution (though the best solution would be if you could just line in the cables from your tv to the mic port on your computer)..

Play the dvd.. go to that scene...

Go to your volume control and go to options.

Click on recording.

Now, select "stereo mix". What this does is allow you to record whatever is playing through your computer speakers. Now, open up any sound recording program, hit record and record the speech as it's playing on your computer. Simple.

Really, though, recording the sound with a mic to your tv would probably sound good if you clean it up afterwards... if you have cool edit pro/adobe audition, specifically use the "remove hiss" and "removes noise and pops" setting..

you can use audacity for free to clean it up.

alternatively, if you use a multitracker, you could just play the dvd on your TV, hook a cable from the TV's headphone port to the input on the multitracker and record that. S'what I do.

funny you should mention that, i actually use audacity for all my recording. i really just was being lazy and didn't want to have to record it myself. but i'll probably end up doing that anyways, lol. thanks for teh suggestions.

go line-in if mic isn't your thing.

Derek 12.28.2008 12:23 PM

Haha weird, it's one of the most simpliest audio programs ever...

o'connor 12.28.2008 04:39 PM

yeah f'sho. i've never used anything simpler than audacity.
