Google Maps Street Level

How much of an invasion of privacy does everyone think google maps street level may be. I looked at the house where I grew up from street level and I could read the number plate on my Dad's car. If the curtains of the house were open I would be able so see some minor details. Is this taking the whole maps thing too far and are we losing our rights to privacy because of it?

Pookie 11.26.2008 06:38 PM

Yes.

But my house is just a blur on it so I don't care.

this is my house on street level, bit close for my liking

ploesj 11.26.2008 06:41 PM

that's creepy.

i remember finding my house on google earth, i could determine the different trees in the garden and such, but not too many details.

this is a whole new level... maybe a bit too close indeed.

You live in a prison?

looks like a cell block but it is fairly lush inside. also it is behind the best record store in my state, and 100 meters from one of the best pubs in australia

I actually had a conversation with my minion about this yesterday.

you can see my car and the cat in the window. I can even tell (by the trees) when that picture was taken.

Yes.

On the other hand, you just posted your address on the SY board.

Let's sue Google.

Your right to privacy lives on in the fact that nobody important gives a fuck about you.

gmku 11.26.2008 08:08 PM

HA! Good

Lamont Cranston 11.26.2008 08:14 PM

how is it any more of an invasion of privacy than walking down the street yourself?

gmku 11.26.2008 08:18 PM

I hadn't thought of that. I'm never going back outside!

Who cares wiretapping was here first. As we modernize you'll get used to it.

I think its pretty lame and annoying only because I've had my dad who I've not seen in 6 yrs email me when something has changed when they've updated the street lvel photo of my mum's house. Creepy.

HOWEVER. it is fucking awesome when I'm going somewhere I've never been before, because I go look at street level and find landmarks so I dont get lost when driving.

so.. + and -

In the end I dont really mind. They fuzz out faces so if I were ever IN a shot you wouldnt be able to tell.. plus.. as if you'd even know.. you might be.. anywhere. weird.

ZEROpumpkins 11.27.2008 04:21 AM

I think it's interesting

shentov 11.27.2008 12:58 PM
