1981: band forms, plays some shows, records first EP 1982: releases first EP, Bob Bert replaces Richard Edson, tours US w/ Swans 1983: releases Confusion is Sex, tours Europe twice 1984: works on 'Bad Moon' material, plays album at a handful of shows 1985: releases 'Bad Moon', tours Europe, Steve Shelley replaces Bob Bert, tours US + Europe again 1986: EVOL is recorded and released, tours Europe, tours North America twice, once with fIREHOSE 1987: Sister is recorded and released, tours Europe & North America, begins recording Ciccone Youth LP 1988: Daydream Nation is recorded and released, tours Europe & North America 1989: visits Australia/USSR/Japan/etc, tours Europe again, appears on national TV for the first time, records Goo demos 1990: starts relationship w/ GEFFEN, releases GOO, tours Europe & North America 1991: tours w/ Neil Young, tours Europe w/ Nirvana during which 'The Year Punk Broke' is filmed, plays Bridge Benefit 1992: records + releases Dirty, tours North America and Europe, appears on Letterman for the first of many times 1993: tours Australia/Japan/etc, road tests Jet Set material in Europe over summer, records late in the year 1994: releases Jet Set, Kim has Coco, Thurston tours for "Psychic Hearts", SY play 2 TV appearances + one show the whole year 1995: write and record "Washing Machine", tour with REM, headline Lollapalooza, release Washing Machine, tour North America 1996: tours Europe/etc for "washing machine", appears on the Simpsons 1997: begins writing new instrumental material + releasing some on SYR label, performs a handful of shows premiering exclusively new material 1998: releases 'A Thousand Leaves' + tours North America, Europe, Japan, etc 1999: tours Europe, has gear stolen in California, writes new material with old gear, debuts in August/September, begins working closely with Jim O'Rourke 2000: "NYC Ghosts & Flowers" is released, Jim O'Rourke becomes fully integrated member of the band, tours the world including opening slot on Pearl Jam tour 2001: summer tour for 'Goodbye 20th Century' material w/ guest performers, plans to curate first US All Tomorrow's Parties festival, is postponed, debut "Murray Street" material in the fall 2002: ATP in March, then Murray Street released followed by Europe/NA tours 2003: touring Murray Street in Japan, tours US w/ Wilco, works on 'Nurse' material 2004: releases 'Sonic Nurse' and 'Corporate Ghost', tours Europe/NA/Australia/etc, returns to Bridge Benefit 2005: more Japan/Euro touring, Jim leaves the band at end of the year 2006: "Rather Ripped" released, Mark Ibold joins band, tours North America/Europe/etc 2007: band continues RR tour, begins playing Daydream Nation shows throughout the year 2008: band continues doing Daydream Nation shows w/ some RR material, debuts a couple new tunes towards the end of the year 2009: band releases "Rather Ripped Remixed & Remastered", forum in uproar If that's not what you wanted, I guess I just wasted a good six minutes.
