Mission Of Mascis!!
found this clip on youtube.com....it is a Mission of Burma performance, they are covering a Roxy Music song....when halfway thru....J comes out and rips a solo as they finish..UNFUCKING BELIEVABLE!!!!
the mission of mascis is to play with EVERY COOL MUSICIAN EVER!! YouTube - ATP 2006 - Mission of Burma w/J Mascis covering Roxy Music ![]() |
id never even heard of them til now.....the song is kinda lame from what i can hear....supposedly mission of burma are big fans of thiers cause they were the first to use tape loops i guess
|
I think J. Mascis might be the long lost brother of Bevis Frond mainman Nick Saloman.

that's weird that he's wearing a jazzmatazz t-shirt

Never heard of Roxy Music? Probably for the best though. |

He's a renaissance man. |

Proving once again that everything he is involved in is unlistenable. |

Too bad Hole is fucking terrible. |

sorry savage.....you can have Korn and Creed.....ill take dino |
Oh yeah, I have all the rare Korn and Creed b-sides.
Cough. Sorry; I saw them "back in the day," and I hated them. The music has aged terribly to my ears besides. I should hasten to add that I love guitar solos. I love gratuitous guitar solos. I don't particularly like flailing topped with caterwauling, tone-deaf vocals. Just a taste issue. Dude can play the guitar. I just can't believe that with all that gear, his tone is still so crappy. |
roxy musics first album is fantastic as is J mascis.
|
cool video thanks

i recently bought the new witch album believe it or not called witch, anyway if you dont already know mascis plays drums on it and its pretty damn good, alot of sabbath style riffs and such,
|
^^ j mascis says in some interviews that he likes playing drums better than guitar. in fact i think he hates playing guitar...
anyway thanks for the video link, that was pretty cool :) |
J doesnt hate playing guitar. He just think sit is whimpy in comparison to playing drums. If he really hated guitar, he wouldnt have played it for the past 22 years. Think about that.
|
Also, J and Mission of Burma sounds like a great union. One of the best in rock history, really. I'd kill to see that live.
|
well, j doesnt really get to show off any drumming skills with Witch....most of his drumming is pretty simple with Witch..
oh yeah, Witch just cancelled its second CT date in the past 2 months....and because of those CT dates, i didnt go see them the 2 times theyve played northampton. Witch seems to be taking booking and cancelling 101 from sonic youth CT < most screwed state EVER by bands.....and i dont wanna hear "you are close enough to MA and NYC so dont complain" FUCK THAT! i missed 2 shows now in MA cause i thought they were playing in CT |

I agree that J's drumming with WITCH is pretty basic and not very wild. It doesn't show off his full abilities. But the Northampton gigs were fucking awesome. That guitarist (Kurt) from the Feathers is really good. Very heavy, Sabbath-like riffs that just drill a hole right into yr skull. |
You all need to check out Roxy's second LP For Your Pleasure... it's bitter, twisted and dark...
