Hoosker Doo
who likes these fucks? New day rising and Zen arcade are fucking klass punk albums. Love the song "i dont know what your talking about" and "perfect example". This was revolutionary.
|
i'm awaiting patientless the opening of hüskers on a plane.
their music ain't bad, but the movie is the reason of existance. |
NEW DAY RISING!
NEW DAY RISING!!!! NEW DAY RISING!!!!! NEW DAY RISING!!!!! husker du kicks ass. I love the sound of his guitar. |
Grant Hart singing What's Going On? on Zen Arcade is my favorite song by them.
Bob Mould used to live above the (one of the locations) old 40 Watt in Athens & I went to some after parties there. It was in the '90s after he formed Sugar with local bassist David Barbe. |
zen arcade is good. but like everyneurotic said. huskers on a plane is where it's at
|
Nothing after New Day Rising worth listening to. Eight Miles High best cover version EVER!
|
Not really into them. Kind of boring, actually.
|
Nah they arent boring. One of the best pop bands ever. Zen Arcade, New Day Rising and Flip Your Wig are all perfect albums. Guitar sound on Flip Your Wig is incredible.
Have most of their stuff on CD already but I just ordered those 3 albums on vinyl. Awh yeh! :D |
Boring? Not if you're listening to Land Speed Record, Metal Circus, Zen Arcade, New Day Rising. The last 2 albums and a good deal of Flip are best avoided.
|
I don't think their super-shrill guitar sound has aged well.
I still like Zen Arcade, but I think it might be for nostalgic reasons. Being from Minneapolis, I think I was overexposed. I give them respect for doing a 2xLP concept album at the height of early 80s hardcore, and closing it with a 13 minute instrumental. That was pretty awesome. Both of their vocal styles bug me now though, especially Bob. |
Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm probably listening nostalgically, but New Day Rising still does it for me. I always preferred Grant's vocals, Bob Mould was always a bit whiny for me.

I was looking at New Day Rising contimplating to buy it a few days ago. Question: Is Bad Moon Rising based off of (or vice versa) New Day Rising?
|
Bad Moon Rising was taken from the Creedence Clearwater Revival song of the same name. Don't know where NDR came from.

New Day Rising is a track on the LP, but I don't think it is any way related to BMR, might be wrong. I'm sure Husker Du were CCR fans and Bad Moon Rising is a well known song. Incidentally, 59 Times The Pain is on NDR - I heard a terrible band of that name recently.
|
Husker Du is one of my all time favorite bands, easily top 5. I love all their music, from the early hardcore to the later poppy stuff.
I have a rare soundboard of Husker playing at the Longhorn in 1980 if anyone wants it. A few songs I haven't heard on any other recordings. Let me know and I'll post it. |
I'm a growing fan right now; I have zen arcade and it's great. Please post it chout, I'm interested.
|
I can't say a bad thing about this band.I'd love to but i can't.
Will i ever get tired of listening to 'Candy apple grey'?Don't think so. |
I've actually only heard Flip Your Wig which I found on vinyl for 4 dollars at some marketplace. It's pretty good but I plan on checking out Zen arcade soon.
|
