Would you buy a Lee or Thurston Signature Fender?
I've never really understood this phenomenon, but its big $$$s for the guitar industry. And christ, if Fender really thinks it can sell Avril Lavigne Telecasters then why not a Lee or Thurston Jazzmaster? But would you buy one if they did?
|
In line with the Mascis model, actually cheaper than the standard model, yes.
In line with the Costello relic, $100-$200 more than a standard model, no. I'd pick up the Lee in a second if it had Tele Deluxe pickups and the single coil behind the bridge. But, altogether, I think that this would be a horrible idea for all involved. |
fucks yes i would! i've always wished they would release one.
|
No, it'd be kind of embarassing..
|
f they trash it like lee and thrston would trash them.....no its like buying those pre-destroyed denims, I think

I'm not a fan of the signature guitar concept. |
It would have to be held together with duct tape to really look authentic! I think it would be relatively easy to get them to sign your own mangled guitar for free, so why pay for it?
|
fuck Fender, release the odd balls
like the Drifter |
I love my mascis jazzmaster.
People trying to make a buck is nothing new and is unavoidable so that wouldn't bother me. If it was a good product and it was apparent that either lee or thurston was highly involved in the making than I would deffinitley pick it up. |
i remember seeing them speak in LA a few years ago when they got their plaque at guitar center... or maybe it was at the screening of 1991 the same weekend...anyways.... ranaldo jokingly asked that there be no 'gear' questions. which made it seem like they aren't really your typical 'gear' heads
|
Would it have super powers? Kinda make me really cool rocker?
Naaaa, I prefer to ask them sign mine, that way I will have this unique guitar signed by Lee, Thurston, Kim & Steve, all in one!!! |
i'm sure they could figure out a way to market a 'jazzblaster'
|
i wouold defintaely buy a jazzblaster... that extra pickup behind the bridge would be sweet!
|
They should release a signature relic'ed version of the post-recovered Travis Bean guitar.
