Reissue Wish - Kali Yug Express
Now that MASTER-DIK has found its way onto CD, it'd be sweet ot see KALI YUG Express follow suite. Perhaps with bonus video track of Thurston doing "Empty Page" in studio. Remember that clip? It was also accessable through MURRAY ST's enhanced section? Just daydreamin'.
|
And now that I think of it, they REALLY REALLY should officially reissue ALL FALL DOWN on CD in the same fashion as the MASTER-DIK reissue. Y'know, super low-key, directly through the site. Card sleeve to resemble original vinyl. Again. Just daydreamin'.
|
Would you like fries with that?
|
i'm daydreamin' w/ ya buddy.
|
FUCK YES!
that shit is so expensive to get now! |

ALL FALL DOWN is expensive... KALI YUG impossible. |
4 Tunna Brix runs about £10-£15 on eBay and is listed pretty often - you shouldn't have to wait more than a week or two to spot one. All Fall Down admittedly turns up less often, but who wants the 7" boot when you can have the Goofin' 12"?
Kali Yug is certainly tougher and typically runs to around £25-£40, but is hardly "impossible" to find - there was one that ended yesterday with no bids... |

Radar, thanks for pointing that out. When I was saying "All Fall Down" I was meaning "4 Tunna Brix." In my head I was thinking the official Goofin EP with the four tracks, rather than the 3-track boot. As usual yr SY vinyl knowledge is keen! |
I wish they would reissue Kali Yug Express on vinyl properly before considering a disc version. It needn't have blue vinyl, just a 10- or 12-inch version more readily (and affordably!) available to the masses.
Actually, a box set of their more prominent 12-inchers would be a good idea. We talked recently about blowing up Dirty Boots to full length; TV Shit would make a nice resissue, too; as would 'Flower/Hallowe'en' with the original mix of 'Hallowe'en', 'Rewolf' and the live, extended 'Satan Is Boring'.... |

I agree big time. Some of us seem to think that these reissues/etc are a letdown in lieu of a proper album. But personally, I love the unearthing of archival shiz... I'd love to see the official boots like Blastic Scene, Live in Bremen, Walls Have Ears be re-mastered and issued to the masses with expanded liner notes. Dirty Boots EP begs to be expanded to full on live album like you say. The CANDLE EP as well, as I was expecting it to show up on DAYDREAM DELUXE. There's also tons and tons of comp tracks, b-sides, soundtracks, bonus tracks that could make Destroyed Rooms vols 2-10! Not to mention the looong list of one-off shows that would be great additions to the SYR series. I say bring it all on. |
Heh. I'd love to hear a 60-minute expanded TV Shit :) How many times did they play it?
|
i wish they'd just make a box set already. and put everything in it... and i mean EVERYTHING.
|
wow i've promoted my site twice tonight...
http://www.sonicyouth.com/mustang/cc/songstats.html RE: "TV SHIT"/NO Part II... under DIRTY.. 9 known performances. i think they should just release the "THINGS BEHIND THE SUN" sessions as a companion to the DEMONLOVER material. most of KALI YUG is from the THINGS soundtrack anyway. |

Steve Shelley has said that SYR is going to be issuing a soundtracks box set at some point. Presumably your wish will then come true, Chris. |
steve shelley is god

I was listening to KALI YUG EXPRESS last nite, and was reminded of its brilliance. The 3 tracks really should have been made more available (the enhanced CD webpage link included).
I really really hope the SYR soundtrack boxset becomes a reality. |
I would pay $300 for a special colored vinyl box set of EVERYTHING they have ever put out!@

does the webpage still exist? link? what was there to be seen on it? |
downloads of the 3 tracks from the KALI YUG ep.
|
Now that I think of it, there was also a video of Thurston doing an in-studio version of "Empty Page" wasn't there? I only saw it once, and don't remember it ever being hosted anywhere else! Chris L, Moshe, someone?
