best performances by otherwise lame bands youve seen.
me:
slipknot: 01, to me it seemes heavby as fuck, they actually sounded really fuckin great. deftones: also in 01, they were playing with godsmack (hah!), they played mostly songs off of white pony, a couple classics from around the fur, bored, and the say it aint so cover. chino gave vodka and gatorade to crowd members. note: i like deftones, i just assume most on this board would consider them lame. system of a down: they were playing with mars volta (who were horrible as always), i was in chicago lookin at depaul uni and decided to check it out, they rocked. the pit was pretty fun too. the locust: saw them a couple years ago. ive never liked this band's music ever, always sounded like pointless, gimick-y screamo to me, and i actually like some screamo, but not the locust. but their performace was good and fun and intense. anger management: eminem, 50 cent, a g unit-ified mobb deep (aka lame mobb deep). went with some highschool frfiends and just drank a liter of southern comfort. from what i remember eminem was onpoint. justin timberlake: took my little sistor for her birthday and ended up really enjoying myself, even burned the cd's after. kanye west-two weeks ago, ex gf game me a free ticket, went for the fuck of it, i actually like kanye, but he could definitley be considered lame due to his arrogance and whatnot, but hes a showman, good times. |
David Essex gave me a ticket to his show and it was great fun.

no, deftones are good. The last LP is miserable tho, the rest is really good.

This is an interesting one if by that you mean bands that you expected to be awful, but which turned out to be great live. To which I'd respond Blur.
The even weirder thing about this was that the only time I saw them was on what I think was called the Revolver tour, in about 91-2 where they played alongside Dinosaur Jnr, My Bloody Valentine and the Jesus and Mary Chain. I wasn't even interested in seeing Blur but can honestly say that they were by far the best band that night. I think it was because they really felt they had something to prove to an audience that were inevitably hostile to their inclusion on the bill. I particularly remember both Dinosaur and JAMC being absolutely dreadful that night. The Valentines were OK, but honestly, for that one night, Blur were a total revelation. |
Well, The silversun Pickups. I had been disappointed by their album, but I came to the gig nevertheless. It was not that bad. Loud. A good show.
|
erm. can't think of any, i don't really bother going to see bands i don't like.

Quote:
the last time i saw the locist live was 2001 and combat wounded veteran (reunion tour for them) opened up for them and both of those bands sucked so bad live that night. i told myself i would never see the locust again and i haven't since. |
deftones rule.
anyway, dillinger escape plan were great live.. fucking suck though.. well, the new shit does.. saw them during miss machine era... |
Another one of these threads?
|
yeah, dillinger, like ive said before, is our napam death. one brilliant genre defining debut full length, and then half the band leaves and they make a buncha bullshit.
|
live, the grunge band.
what a great show that was. |
Motorhead.
Fun. |
motörhead is one of the best bands in the history of the world.
|
^Yes, motorhead was a good show.
AJ from the backstreet boys. (lollollololo) the sound was really good and they were all really well practised and in time and everything. |
I saw The Rakes when they supported The Jesus & Mary Chain. They were surprisingly good (except for the singer's deliberately spastic dancing).
