right now i have the worst strep throat ever, i can't swallow because if i do it hurts so bad i feel it in my ears. i feel like i got hit by a truck, a big fucking truck. and i have a fever, therefore i am freezing cold but my face feels hot. and i am even weaker than usual. i want orange sherbet now.

do i have to get antibiotics or will this go away on its own?

You really should go to a doctor. If you wait, it will likely just get worse. I fought off a nasty fever last weekend, but I didn't have any other symptoms and it was pretty clearly flu based, so a doctor couldn't have done anything for me. You sound like you have an infection, and that's a whole different matter.

For a second obvious statement sure to piss you off, cigarettes likely have something to do with how you got where you are now.

i took a hot bath which only did any good when i was in there. my boyfriend is so cute, there's a 'pulse' setting on the showerhead and he sat on the edge of the tub and sprayed my back with it which was lovely

Delving into my woggy background* we have a bunch of ol' skool cures/reliefs..... which are probably shit, but here they are:

1. Honey is good. Shit loads of sweetness, glides down the throat (floating slowly had better not edit that into something dirty!)

2. Throat nasties are related to vampires. Go the garlic. Also Ginger.

3. Gargle very warm salty water then spit. (I mean it, floaty!)

4. Alcohol. This is ultra ol' skool. But it has to be moonshine (ie: grappa, raykija or something really pure). Drinking it (not to excess) will deaden the throat, but it's also good as a chest rub. That's right, rub it on your chest and throat (and back, I think my mum said also) and then goto bed.

I've been lucky in that I haven't had a bad throat bug in ages. I'm serious about the garlic and I also do fresh pineapple juice and usually outsleep my cat. Sleep is good.



*In Aus, non-anglo Europeans are referred to as 'Wogs'. We call anglos "Skips" as in 'Skippy the Bush Kangaroo'

evidently my immune system is pretty weak because i have had THE worst year re: illness. i've been very ill more often than not.

also, i don't drink anymore so that's out.

porky, shut up. you have NO idea how terrible i feel physically. my mother took care of it last time i had strep throat NINE YEARS AGO, i don't know what the fuck to do! especially not having insurance. you wouldn't understand it, your situation in england is very different from here (though still ass backwards because it takes forever to see a doctor).

Of course I don't have idea about that. I was just trying to tell you to go to see a doctor, that's all. I also got the impression that you were in a position to afford seeing a doctor, or at least that's what came across from your other posts. It's difficult to tell from all these internet moodswings, though.

apparently i'm going to have to pay 78% more for prescription that would cost $20 if i had insurance (which is only $35.60), plus the cost of the dr. visit which im pretty sure is also like $20 with insurance...

ok so i just looked it up and i will evidently be paying $95-$265 for the visit bringing the total to $130-$300.

fine with me as long as i don't feel like this shit.

i have the money now that i've looked into it. it's not a problem.
however there is something else (which i will not mention here) i need that could cost a significantly larger amount of money which i will also be looking into.

I had exactly that a couple of monthes ago, turned out I has tonsilitis. So get it checked out.

i refuse to get my tonsils removed if that is the case. that's an extreme measure, especially considering this is the second time in my life i've ever had this at all.

Yes it is an absurdly extreme assumption. I still have my tonsils. Cantankerous, I have upmost sympathy for you as your unwell, but you do seem to have the back of your hand permanently attached to your forehead about this, if you catch my drift. You can't ask for advice then snap at us if you don't agree. Less of the "you have NO IDEA"s, of course we don't, we don't know you, let alone your throat. We're not trained medical professionals, and only trying our best. Go see one.
