Musical Tribute To Wiliam S. Burroughs
doesn't really have much to do w/ him, i was just watching a documentary on him when i recorded it. it's on teh music page, aptly titled "A Dream For Burroughs". lemme know what you think.
|
I do my own little tribute to Burroughs on the some of my songs.
I write a bunch of lyrics and then "cut em up" and sing 'em the way they were cut up. |
cool. i've got that 4 cd box set of his and on one of the disc's he talks about his cut-up method, interesting stuff.

its like tuberculosis folks.......................

60% of my lyrics reference Burroughs in some way.
I'm so gay. |

lol, i love that line. |
I used to use a tape of Burroughs saying 'You got the wrong name and the wrong number' as my answerphone message. Freaked a few people out. :)

60% of my taste in typewriters comes directly from ol. Bill.
|
i was gonna use an audio clip of "ah pook" in teh middle of this song but it just didn't sound right. so what'dya think of the song?
|
|
Kurt Cobain's guitar doesn't really go with his voice.
|
i think it goes nicely. and i'm fairly sure it wasn't a tribute since they were both alive at the time and collaborated on this. chris novoselic posed on teh cover of the cd as the "priest".

You dont need to be dead to have a tribute done for someone. There are sonic youth tributes out there. |
I don't think it was a tribute to him. Just kurt Cobain playing guitar on his spoken word piece. At some degree, yeah, it could have been a tribute, but it was not what it was intented to be...
