My favorites though (and not on that list) are De Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Rabbinical School Dropouts, and Full Metal Klezmer. Tzadik releases lots of really great klezmer artists.. |
daniel zamir is cool. when i was little i went to lots of klezmer shows. i think theres much more of it in the state nd europe than in israel, theres not muh exposre to it here.heres a link that i found yesterday to DL some klezmer from a blog
im have yet to DL it to comment, but it looks good http://zerogsound.blogspot.com/2007/...1911-1950.html |
I only have a few compilations and some Zamir stuff (co-incidentally enough). It's one of those genres, like a lot of 'folk' stuff, that it's infinitely preferable to see live than on record. Unlike a lot of 'folk' stuff, anywhere with a moderate Jewish/ Eastern-European population should put on a night or two relatively frequently. I find the local Polish clubs (in most cities, it seems) are good for this and related musics.
