cap n jazz
anyone like them? i think they are a very underrated band.
|
Yeah, they're pretty good, their only full length (the first 12 or so songs on their 2-disc set) is REALLY good, the rest is decent. The guitar playing is excellent. Loose and sloppy but somehow precise and usually pretty jazzy.
I wouldn't say at all that they're "underrated"; they're extremely well-known and considered influential by many artists... not as well known as the offshoot bands like Joan of Arc (which has some interesting stuff) and the Owls (who are kinda boring)... but definitely more well known than Make Believe (who has some of the craziest guitar lines I've ever heard!). |
I wouldn't say "underrated."
More like "unlistenable." |

i wouldn't say they are extremely well known, but they're very influential especially in the mid to late 90's indie/emo scene. yeah their best thing they released was their full length. i sold it for 80 bucks on ebay and one of their 7 inches i got 50 for it. |
well, im embarrassed, i got know idea who they are. good thing im listening to ruins-hyderomastgroningem, way to awesome to care about being embarrassed.

I'm getting into them. I love how the vocalist sounds like he is having fun.
|
![]() there's a picture of them. for people who didn't know the guy with the red hat formed the promise ring after he quit the band. |
It's funny, I saw Make Believe at some festival last year, and I was thinking, 'Man, that guy sure does sound like the cap'n jazz/joan of arc/etc dude...' and some guy was yelling out "PLAY LITTLE LEAGUE!" And I was like "Uhhhhhhhh..." So, I went home and looked it up, and it was Mr. Kinsella. They broke up like a month afterwards too!

hahaha. my friend likes joan of arc and the owls. i saw the owls live once and this guy who looks like bill clinton randomly came in the club and got onstage and started singing with them. he was very drunk and his wife had to pull him away. i saw make believe with hella. they were pretty good. during hella's set tim kinsella stood in the front row and spazzed out during their whole set. little league is my favorite cap n jazz song. |
i need to listen to them more!

Little League
Oh Messy Life Scary Kids Scaring Kids those are the only three songs I know by them, but they're all fuckin awesome, ESPECIALLY Scary Kids Scaring Kids which is one of my favorites of all time. I'll need to get their album with the crazy name sometime. Oh yeah, and I've heard their cover of "Take On Me"...and to their credit, they managed to make an already terrible song EVEN WORSE. Yeah. |

you know there's a mallcore scene band called like this? |
I don't recall the title, but the song that goes "A B C D E F G H I J K LOST!" is my favorite...
|
everyneurotic, that's funny...
There's also a mallcore band who aren't COMPLETELY awful but sound like a blood brothers reject.. called bullet train to vegas.. (drive like jehu song for those not in the know) I find it funny when these bands seem to have a decent taste in music.. |
Quote:
yeah i know, they named themselves after the song i believe. i've never listened to them, but apparently they're shit so whatever. |
yeah, appearantly bullet train to vegas aren't that bad.
there's also another hardcore-ish band called paint it black who seem to be good, i haven't listened to them, though. dude from lifetime is in it and there new (next?) album is going to be produced by oktopus, dälek's producer/dj. |

"in the clear" is the name of the song. |

paint it black are alright. they are new school hardcore without the metal influence. lifetime were amazing. even though i refuse to listen to their new album. |
yes, lifetime were awesome.
