Why do people care about people commenting on their Myspace pics?
 

Are they really that emotionally needy that they must be told that they are "hot" etc. constantly? It's seriously fucking annoying and I cannot see how anyone cares about someone who feels the need to take 50 photos of themselves in the same pose every fuckin' day. [/vent]

because they constantly need to be reminded that OMG UR SO PRETY. dropping "i'm soooooo fat!" and "i'm sooooo ugly" in everyday conversation ain't cuttin it anymore.

People hardly even say things like "you're hawt!!!" or "OMG you're pretty." Not in my group of friends anyway.

That I can answer. I care about My Space because I've found some awesome music on there, promoted shows I've played that actually led to people coming to them, gotten my music heard by people in distant countries who never would have otherwise, found a label that put out our latest album, gotten a paying $200 dj gig from somebody in Olympia who didn't know how to get hold of me, and stayed in touch with people who don't respond to regular e-mails for whatever reason.

To me, My Space is the true information freeway we always heard the internet would be. It's very useful for what it's for, you just don't want to use it for aesthetic pleasures anymore than you would your typical 4 laner at rush hour IRL. There are many things about it that are lame, but the usefullness far outweighs them.
