one of the greatest songs ever written, i'm convinced of it. i fucking love that song. i haven't seen em play it live in a while, i wish they'd bring it back out. no point really, just ranting. thanks for listening. end of transmission.

TV rules....

It seems that in every transcription of the lyrics to M Ward's "Helicopter" there's a conspicuous comma between the words "Tom" and "violence", but I'm pretty sure Ward meant the line I quoted as a reference to the SY song, at least partially. He did cover the tune, in fact, on Rodriguez's Swing Like a Metronome, but in a 2005 interview he said that album "wasn't very good".

Not huge on M. Ward, but wouldn't mind hearing his take on TV.

Tom Violence is good but in my opinion Sonic Youth have tons of better songs.

Tom Violence is one my favourite SY songs. Perfect opener and perhaps the best song on EVOL.

I had a dream a couple nights ago.
In the dream I had to go to a sy concert but something happened and I was late. When I arrived to the venue I heard they start playing while I was still running to the tickets stand, and the first song was "Tom Violence". I was really pissed and sad for missing it.
This must mean I love this song.
And I really do.

One of my fav SY songs. Truely incredible. I absolutely love the skronking noisy part in the middle. That sound on 1:18 really does it for me.
