who is james?
who is honest james?
is this the same james from brother james? |
i like to think of it as a love song for jim o'rourke. he and thurston had
something very special. so special that jim had to dash to another continent to escape the severe emotional distress that the dissolution of said union produced within him. |
brother james was jim jones. by whom i mean the suicidal guru and not
the guy who's made his entire career out of "baalllllllllliiiiiiinnnnn'!" |
according to that amoeba article, honest james is james brown!
|
i hate that song, honest james...i hate to say it, but it makes me puke. i love the rest of the album but that song just turns my stomach...
|
James is Jimmy James. Don't cha know?
|
According to visions magazine thurston says (i try to translate it) about honest james: "This song is about the relationship to my elder brother. He's living a completely different life from mine, he's married, has children and a down-to-earth (?) job, where i thought: fuck it all, i go to new york city and see how far i come... independent of us two, this song describes the honest dedictaion (?) of what you do. everybody in his own way."
|
whoever james is, its a beautiful song.
|
![]() ...James was there, man.. |
