Too good for the London Gig Guide thread!!

Anyone going to this, give us a shout:

Damo Suzuki with Vialka

Sun 22 July: Krautrocker Damo Suzuki was lead vocalist of German noise pioneers Can in the early 70s. A legendary cult figure on the avant music circuit, Suzuki‚s freeform lyrics gell with a rolling, psychedelic <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychedelic> sound. He performs improvisational music with local musicians (so-called "Sound Carriers") from around the world, building up a network of musicians that he has and can collaborate with.
Tonight Suzuki is joined on stage by the duo Vialka, Marylise Frecheville and Eric Boros. Vialka have a nomadic turbo folk sound. Their music is based on the frenetic interaction between Marylise's syncopated drumming and singing and Eric's orchestral guitar playing. It is delivered with ecstatic energy, humour, lust for life, a sophisticated musical language and subliminal connection all their own. Given the collaboratory nature of Suzuki‚s performances, this show is truly unique. www.damosuzuki.com/

Hmmm, man, I love Damo in his Can era, haven't really been following what he's been up to...just checked out his website, sounds pretty amazing...
Damn, not sure if I can make this...

Toilet & Bowels 07.20.2007 10:01 AM

i saw him last year, it was a bit boring

jon boy 07.20.2007 10:24 AM

he played leeds lots and lots in the past few years. bit boring too.

The Usher 07.20.2007 10:56 AM

So the general consunsus is that this will be a bit boring, that's a bit of a shame, thought he might continue to do amazing things...oh well, might pop along anyway...

Glice 07.20.2007 11:35 AM

Seen him twice, once boring, once very good. So, I would revise that to 'patchy'.

sarramkrop 07.21.2007 10:10 AM

I'll check him out for myself and then I will let you know.

sarramkrop 07.23.2007 04:15 AM

I did and it was ok, nothing special, plus I started feeling sick and had to go home.

Aw thanks, kiss you on the forehead. Still feeling a little groggy today, I haven't been feeling sick in a while. It must be the schizophrenic weather.
