I'd like to learn more! It's a bit of a gap in my knowledge - and I don't want to go from "white rock fan who doesn't listen to rap" to the even worse step of "white rock fan who only listens to critically acclaimed rap".

That’s the normal trajectory, though. If it wasn’t for the Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang and Tribe, Kool Keith, Jay-Z and Del, I might never have bothered.

Plus there’s a fuckton of critically acclaimed rap that isn’t mainstream at this point. Look at Billy Woods’ discography. Just madness. And Ka and Boldy James. Etc.

Anyway, there used to be this annual thread about hip-hop and louder, noisereductions and I were the main players. I miss those guys.

I stopped listening to hip hop until they free Young Thug
