Countless White House E-Mails Deleted

Countless e-mails to and from many key White House staffers have been deleted -- lost to history and placed out of reach of congressional subpoenas -- due to a brazen violation of internal White House policy that was allowed to continue for more than six years, the White House acknowledged yesterday.

The leading culprit appears to be President Bush's enormously influential political adviser Karl Rove, who reportedly used his Republican National Committee-provided Blackberry and e-mail accounts for most of his electronic communication.

"Like the famous 18-minute gap in the Nixon White House tapes ... This sounds like the Administration's version of 'the dog ate my homework" says Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt, as the White House struggles to explain how dozens of staffers' emails sought by the Senate Judiciary Committee in the course of its investigation were 'accidentally' deleted. "You can't erase e-mails, not today. They've gone through too many servers," said Leahy, D-Vt. "Those e-mails are there, they just don't want to produce them. We'll subpoena them if necessary."

they "say" the emails all got deleted, but emails cannot be deleted, not onc they have gone through multiple servers. They just do not want to provide them. the senate will legally demand them now.

hell yeah, stupid fucking greedhead mouthbreathers.

We had a scandal of this nature with the Blair government a while back.

If the Bush gang can get away with Guantanamo Bay, as they obviously can, then I'm sure they'll have no problem getting away with this.

Sad, but true.

My uncle spent 3 years as a POW in Vietnam. when they found him he weighed 67 lbs. he lived in a chicken wire cage, 3 foot by 3 foot by 4 foot, for a year.
we now have over 200 people in Guantanamo under very nearly the same conditions,a nd they have been there for YEARS.

the hypocrisy of the people running our nation makes me sick.

and to think in the LAST presidential election Bush's media cronies tried to and succeeded, in pegging Sentaor McCain as "possibly unstable" because of his POW experiences, thereby undecutting the momentum he had gained.

Hip Priest 04.12.2007 04:33 PM

Jo Moore. "A good day to bury bad news".

This government are a real shambles. Did you hear Des brownes pathetic squirming yesterday? The Iranian government will be laughing for a month.

jon boy 04.12.2007 04:38 PM

i saw a bit of it yes. always nice to see politicians squirm, especially neo labour ones.

Hip Priest 04.12.2007 04:40 PM

I'm getting very fed up with politicians (and sportspeople, to be frank) being allowed to claim that they 'take full responsibility' whilst shifting the blame to someone else.
