I got a Big Muff...
and it's nice. But I definately need a new amp, my 15 watt bass amp that I use for guitar just isn't cutting it anymore :) What are some good suggestions? I am not tech savvy at all, and while I may be able to play guitar well, I know nothing about guitars, amps, pedals, any of that.

Amp?
Well, if you're thinking around the 15 watt range, I use a Marshall MG 15DFX. Great clean sound, heavy distortion and a few built-in digital effects (reverb et al). |
Actually I am wanting something bigger, I am done with the 15 watts :)
my peavey 65 watt transtube has been nice.
and watch out those big muff peddles hurt
is that a positive hurt or a negative hurt?
Positive in my mind. Whats your price range for a new amp?
I would probably be looking at something in the $500 range. That's even pushing it a bit for my budget, but you have to spend a little to get something decent, I've learned that the hard way...
dude...Crate GT212 = $500 canadian.. 120 watt amp 2X12 transistor. 3 channels...all useful.
owns the peavey bandit or any peavey equivilent. ![]() http://www.zzounds.com/item--CRAGT212 I've owned one for 3 years and its amazing..never let me down. Great big muff tone too!! great noise aswell. read some reviews if you don't believe me! |
I like Fender amps. They can sound really pretty or really nasty.
i got the fender blues jr a few months back and olve it. its the smallest of the fender tubes but it sounds great. the tone is perfect and its really loud. ive never put it over 1.5 on the volume (it goes up to 12).. and its probably less than 500.
and if you have the money to spend, never, ever, ever, get a non tube amp.... good luck |
As much as I love tube amps, there are some very good guitarists that use solid state amps to good effect- Daniel Ash and Bernard Sumner for example.
I'm going for a Marshall stack :D. No, really.
I have a Big Muff too. My amps are some 1960's Silvertone tube amps. I really need to get something bigger.

Exactly! Get a Deluxe Reverb or Twin! Or if you don'yt have the money, get the Blues Deluxe (40 Watt, very nice loud sound) or a Blues Jr. or even a Hot Rod! Theres many choices! |
My friend had a hot rod, I thought it could have sounded much better with better speakers.
I'm running through a 15 Watt amp as well and can't be bothered to save up for a new one (keep buying pedals and other stuff)
I have to buy a lot of stuff, I need a new trem system for my JM, crappy cheap japanese one broke. And then I'd really like to buy a Super fuzz clone. Afterthefact, how does the BM sound through a bass amp? Is it different when used with a normal guitar amp? I bet theres more gain/deeper sound |

Amazing, I thought this never happened to fellow jazzmaster owners. I'm getting the USA trem, it owns the little CIJ one. Meh, I'll wait 'till my birthday if anything happens with amps, I'm gonna try persuading parents that its my 'sweet' 16 and shit.. Until that, Pedals! |
