The list. My picks:
So Alonesome — Johnny Thunders Robyn Hitchcock & His LA Squires — Robyn Hitchcock "I'm Not Sayin'"/"The Last Mile" — Nico Tonight's The Night Live At The Roxy — Neil Young Cuts Up, Cuts Out — Merzbow, Mats Gustafsson, Thurston Moore, Balazs Pandi Welcome To The Blackout (Live in London '78) — David Bowie "Let's Dance (Full Length Demo)" — David Bowie How We Found Ourselves... By the way, if you check Record Store Day UK, you'll find different titles. No wonder I missed out on some cool shit last year.

I know a lot of you dudes are into vinyl, but it bums me out that there's been a decline in CD releases for these RSD events lately. I mean there's even cassettes lately, but a lot less CD's. OH well.
I scanned the list. I was excited for a second about that Wilco live album, and then realized it's the same show as on the Being There deluxe reissue. I think there's an Uncle Tupelo demo album being released, but I'm betting that's already been released previously as well? |

Yes, on the Legacy Edition of No Depression. |
That's what I figured. Thanks for confirming.

Live Nov 1981 — Ut (originally a cassette, first time reissued) Warsaw — Warsaw (first bona fide official release?) Nine Sevens — Wire Getting Better — Wussy Jesus Crap I'm gonna need bananaboatloads of money... :( |
here's some albums that I might want to buy, taken from the UK list for RST, even though I'm not going to buy any of it because they're all on vinyl:
Dirty Three - Whatever You Love You Are Jeff Buckley - Live At Sine Serge Gainsbourg - Le Pacha (OST) Various Artists - Pornosonic: Unreleased 70s Porn Music Featuring Ron Jeremy :D Various Erased Tapes Artists - 1+1=X (more details) |
I hope that ut reissue is now than just an rsd release

Unlike the US site, Record Store Day UK doesn't specify whether an item is RSD Exclusive, RSD Limited Run/Regional Focus or "RSD First". That said, the LP's description says it's "Part of the ongoing UT remaster/reissue series", so I think it'll be normally available after RSD. |
The Killing Joke album is labelled Killing Joke - Absolute Decent but it is actually Killing Joke - Absolute Dissent.

i was surprised to find out from a record store clerk friend that RSD does nothing to help business, and in fact, probably hurts the bottom line. the records they stock are expensive and if they don't sell, end up in the discount bin at a loss. meanwhile, the pressing plants get clogged with RSD crap (let's be honest. it is mostly crap) while regular joe bands end up with their album delayed.

RSD went well for me, Merzbow/Thurston Moore/Mats Gustaffson/Pandi LP!!

Yay! Is it brutal? Is it BRUTAL? We need to know! I'm currently 5 out of 6, waiting for one of the artists to make the record available. (She told me that will be the case. I talk to rockstars like that.) |
I've got a nice local shop near my work, but most of its stock is of the £40 reissues of Songs In The Key Of Life variety. It's very much a 'Lifestyle Vinyl' kind of shop, although the people there are well alright so I don't blame them for going for the high-margins. It's a wealthy area as well.
But I'm glad it's there, because it is an independent shop at least. They had this in the racks for RSD, which I'm not too enthused by tbh https://www.discogs.com/Oumou-Sangar...lease/11898170 Dunno if anyone else is a fan of Sangare, but these remixes sound a bit half arsed, at least on first couple of listens. |

From the "personal wishlist" I wrote on this thread's first post, Neil Young's Roxy: Tonight's The Night Live has been out on CD for a month and Bowie's Welcome To The Blackout (Live in London '78) will be released as a 2CD set on June 29. There may be several more titles for which RSD was a... teasing platform, let's say, with their limited colored vinyl edishs and whatnot, and are now or will be widely available in more conventional formats. Live At The Venue and the Ut and Confidential EPs are available from Ut's Bandcamp site. Get 'em while they're still there! https://utmusic.bandcamp.com/ |
