how many thoughts and prayers does it take to change a light bulb?
just asking
|
the real question is, how many of the assholes that send "thougts and prayers" have actually kneeled down and prayed BEFORE sending "thoughts and prayers."
Also, If these idiots believe prayers are effective at doing ANYTHING, what keeps their enemies prayers from working equally well, or cancelling out their initial prayers? Also, I have heard from wise men, priests, pastors, mystics, that "god" answers all prayers, but people do not like the answer "NO." That seems true, so why send thoughts and prayers? |

Millions of people from around the world pray daily. Many of these people live where there is no electricity and therefore have no lightbulbs to change.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. |
I'm pretty tolerant toward religious people, but I simply feel bad for anyone who thinks prayers have any real world consequence. It makes the person praying feel a bit better. That's all. I know a few religious people who understand this and I respect them for it.

let’s do nothing about it but hey— thoughts and prayers. yep. |
I am the son of an Episcopal Priest. From my 43 years of experience, I feel prayer is powerful as fuck as a tool for self-analysis, self-understanding, and the strengthening of one's internal consciousness in the face of the horrors of the world.
I do not pray myself, but I appreciate people who honestly pray to their divinity for guidance or for peace of mind. I cannot stand any asshole praying for a specific personal involvement of some sort of anthropomorphisized deity to affect the natural world around us somehow. If we are conscious, the multi-verse is conscious, and so is every thing that has ever existed. prayer can be this consciousness talking to itself. I do not like when people beg a deity to do this or that, or to save so and so, or to make sure our team wins, etc. when dozens of highly trained and rigorously vetted medical professionals save someone's life from a dreaded disease the families are always so quick to praise their deity for the miracle, and to me that insults the humanity within us that allows us to learn so much and share knowledge so that a team of experts can save your little girl from bone marrow cancer.... |

Are you trying to make apple juice by using oranges, because I don’t see how the two are related? Yet individuals who don’t pray or believe it has much value are angered by those who do......wonder if sky diving message boards have angry post about jumpers using parachutes? |

but y’know... thoughts and prayers. maybe i should have titled the thread “how many thoughts and prayers does it take to keep guns from the insane”? but that would have been too literal. |

Is it any different than the Texas Pastor forgiving and praying for the individual who shot up his church and killed his daughter? Matthew 5:44 (NKJV) 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. |

but what do the weasel politicians think and pray for in the face of daily mass shootings? their nra grades? |
Do you think Trump prays for the suffering immigrants? I don't think that fuck prays at all. He has said as much himself.

here’s a spanish proverb/expression, “a dios rogando y con el mazo dando” which translates roughly as “pleading to god and hitting with a hammer.” meaning that you put hard work behind your prayers.
but these weasely hypocrite fuckers just have thoughts! and prayers! and absolute fucking zero work. |
Anyone seen Anthony Jesselnik's comedy special titled this? It's pretty good. Darkly good.
