Steve leaves Thurston tour

Does anyone know what happened to Steve to make him leave Thurston's South American tour and is he OK?

The Best Day Tour Instagram account said he had to leave after falling ill. A fan filled in for the first show and then Ryan Sawyer flew in from NYC to play the remaining gigs. Didn't something similar happen during one of Lee's Euro tours this year?
