whats the news on this? is it gonna be us only, or will us poor folks in the uk get to see what will surely be a stupidy good show?

Barely any information unfortunately... There were 2 leaked tour dates, and one was Saskatoon, Canada and the other was in the U.K.

OK. I'm confused... Flaming Lips have a tour in the UK, this isn't the same one with SY, right? I'd be majorly pissed off to miss that, having been so close to having tickets in the first place.

The information I saw was in Pitchfork but I think it was just a brief mention without many details....

Nah....but I'm pumped that the Lips are opening for them. I haven't been this pumped for an opener since Stereolab.

Very conflicted about Lollapalooza. It's very close and I love a lot of those bands, but I take some pride in never going to a Lolla before. I kind of don't like festivals in general. Too sweaty, too people-y.
If SY and the Lips have a separate show at say the Riv I'd probably prefer it.

I could be wrong of course, but I reckon that that "leaked UK date" was probably just a mix-up between Manchester, TN (Bonnaroo) and Manchester, UK.

Also, Thurston specifically only mentioned the US in that Pitchfork article.
The Flaming Lips European tour next month is definitely without Sonic Youth. The Flaming Lips are playing some festivals in Europe too this summer.
