So... favourite remix?
I was going to say something in the dismantled covers thread, but I thought a new thread is more appropriate. Ok, so remixes are the death of all that is right and good, but there must be a handful of decent ones, right? Right.
Kevin Shield's remix of Mogwai Fear Satan Alec Empire's remix of Bjork's Bachelorette AFX's remix of NIN... can't remember the song, but it was something from the Downward Spiral era. Mogwai's/ Arab Strap's remix of David Holmes' Don't die just yet. and... I can't think of any more. Someone else think for me. |
Adam Cooley's Hives Hives remix
|
I don't know if it could be called a remix, a cover or god knows what but i like what AFX did with Eno/Glass's version of 'Heroes' because it sounds scary.Other honourable mentions:
DJ Q's remix of 'R U Still Into It' by Mogwai Grandmaster D.ST 'Rockit''s Megamix Stereolab's remix of 'Martin, Doom! Its 7 O'Clock' by Boo Radleys Twine's remix of John Hughes's 'Set Me On The Couch' Lemmi think some more............. |
Oooooooh!
How could I possibly forget NWW's remix of Stereolab? Shocking. That's my favourite remix ever, so much so that I forget it's an actual remix. |
I have this remix of Die Princess Die's 'Hunting' that is awesome and kinda hypno-glitch but i don't know who did it.Should Kid 606's awesome version/remix/fuck knows of 'Straight Outta Compton' be here or on the other thread?
|
Any NWW remix, as they tend to be pretty much completely unrecognizable from the original source and thus almost completely new pieces of music.

Off the top of my head, my favorite remix is by this guy who calls himself rx. He took speeches by George W. Bush and remixed them into the "president" singing "Imagine" with the chorus of "Walk on the Wild Side". It's just so fucking brilliant.
|
Which one will you upload? My favourite track on those two has to be 'Animal Or Vegetable (A Wonderful Wooden Reason)'.
|
The late '80s were packed with good remixes, the first that come to mind being the multiple remixes of Age of Chance's "Kiss" and remixes of various Pop Will Eat Itself releases. Aah, those were the days...
|
the subject of remixes always puzzles me because there are so many. i have heard a few that are better then the originals. i once heard a really amazing (i know i know) remix of push it by salt n peppa. i have the remixed version of enjoy the silence on my ipod.
|
Diplo's Gold Lion remix, of course.

no no it was the original but very messed up, its hard to describe but made sense at the time but not in a drunk/stoned way. i like innovative remixes i guess. people who are not affraid to completely deconstruct a song not just the dance remixes.

all aphex twin versions of come to daddy
discordance axis-their record our last day has tons of cool remixes and cool covers, cat's cradle a cide projekt cover, ulterior a melt banana cover, etc.. merzbow-agorzbow merzbleed (agoraphobic nosebleed remix) drokz-harder drugs faster (ditto above) isis-weight (fennesz remix) all lil wayne dj drama mix tapes when it comes to remixes i like extreme music reimagined as nutso electronic ditties, besides that, i usually like original versions |
