Everyone get that Loveliescrushing album.

Also, I never checked this thread before because we were on dialup at my house but since we just got DSL I'll check it more. Fugazifan and Pork are posting so many good albums that it's ridiculous. Kudos.

Get Totsuzen Honno No Gotoku on Last Visible Dog. It's pretty far and away their best in my opinion.

SUNROOF!-SPLAT!, CDR, 2003, USA

Since more Matthew Bower material was requested in the wake of my post of Hototogisu's debut, here's one of my favorites of his sprawling discography, albeit one which sits at a decided right angle to his usual M.O.. "Splat!" was issued as part of Jackie-O Motherfucker's U Sound archive series and unfurls it's sequence of floor-sucking stratagems over the course one multi-part 50+ minute sound slab, much of it imbued with a perverse sense of humor that's as welcome as it is unexpected. To wit, both "Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie and Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon" get unceremoniously sucked into the relentlessly spuming tidal pool of hallucinatory heat hazed and delay warped electronic splatter and deformed guitar chug/churn here, all realized with a keen sense of dynamics and a dedication to psychotropic excess thats as winning as it is exhausting.

Get it Here

Mad River - s/t 1st LP (Capitol Records, 1968)

Excellent and not-easy-to-pick-up-these-days debut LP from this '68 San Fransisco-based group. Contemporaries of the likes of Quicksilver Mesenger Service, this album boasts fantastic and depressing tunes, killer dual leads, and a voice so plaintative, it sounds like the singer's about to cry in places. Highly recommended!:

Dashiell Hedayat - Obsolete

Excellent LP; I just got an original after looking for many years.
Fantastic album; super-psychedelic, lots of Gong members participating and a cameo by William S. Burroughs.

Found an upload here for all of you lovely people; hope you like this as much as I do.

atsonic, have you heard The GTO's album? It's pretty meh, but you'd probably wanna hear it once.

Savage Clone 08.25.2008 11:25 PM

Found this one at work today; looked cool/weird, and was released in the early 70s on Philips, so I thought I'd bring it home to check it out.
It is cool indeed.
Walter Smetak, a Swiss composer who moved to Brasil, released this one in 1974. He made a lot of his own instruments and worked in some pretty weird tonal areas. Caetano Veloso produced this LP and wrote the liner notes, but this is definitely not Tropicalia.

Super Cool.

the gto's?!

No I have not sir!!

acousticrock87 08.26.2008 04:26 AM

I just found this is a drawer:

I have no idea what it is, but I have a vague memory of buying it from the Awesome Color (I think?) merch booth. They told me what/who it was but I forgot. It's marked 5/73, and I've never listened to it, but there's a little bit of info on it down at the bottom of this.

I have no way of ripping it to the computer, since it's a cassette, but I'll try to see what I can do. I was just surprised I had it. I love finding little oddities like this that I know nothing about.

A few weeks back another blog did 'Tourney Into Pain', just when I almost completed making MP3s of 'Journey Into Pain'. The two releases are connected. 'Journey Into Pain' is released by Japanese Beast 666 Tapes and 'Tourney' might be a bootleg version on Statutary Tapes (RRRecords), with partly new tracks and some skipped from the original. I have no idea why. People asked me to up this 'Journey Into Pain', so here it is. Four sixty minutes tapes, that's what the weekend is for! With New Blockaders/Organum, P16D4, Merzbow, John Duncan, Paul Hurst & Mark O'Brien, Tom Recchion, Vittore Baroni, PGR, HNAS, Un Drame Musical Instantane, Half Japanese, Anschluss & Russ Shorto, Maybe Mental, Helene Sage, SBOTHI, The Haters, Asmus Tietchens, Incapacitants, The Sodality, Bruno Cossano, Nord, Giancarlo Toniutti, Hijyo Kaidan, The Boredoms, The Hanatarashi,

tape one and two

tape three and four

MELVINS - Love Canal/Someday (Flipper covers) [5"]

Released in 1990 on Slap A Ham Records.

* 5" Slap A Ham #13
* clear wax edit. 3000
* Milky vinyl with green sticker, less than 30 copies
* Pink wax with white center label edit. 12 (test pressing)

This review originally appears in The Crass Menagerie #100)

This was my first exposure to a 5" record. In fact it being a 5" was one of the main reasons I bought it. Fortunately I had a record player that didn’t have too much trouble playing it... I could usually get it to play after five or six attempts at moving my needle towards the edge of the vinyl very slooooooooowly. I know some people who simply cannot get a 5" to play. At the time this came out I was not much of a MELVINS fan. I was stupid. I was, however, a FLIPPER fan and this record was MELVINS doing FLIPPER covers and it came out about the same time FLIPPER reformed and released “American Grafishy,” (“Someday” was a track included on “American Grafishy.”) an album I loved but a lot of old FLIPPER fans hated. After hearing this record I decided that MELVINS did indeed know what they were doing and I began buying their stuff.

Tracklist

A: Love Canal - cover from Flipper's Sex Bomb Baby

B: Someday - cover from Flipper's American Grafishy

* King Buzzo - Guitar, Bass, Vocals
* Dale - Drums

Recorded on Buzz's Four-Track

http://www.themelvins.net/wiki/index..._Canal/Someday

I ripped this myself for file sharing between different forums & torrent sites...

Enjoy!

Grinding brutal power electronics released on cassette in 1983. Still one of my very favourite releases. Some tape hiss from the transfer, but not detracting from the quality. A great album for your first date with that special someone!
