Brainiac is my favorite band right now

Seriously. . .
so fucking good

I got the bridge from "Fucking With The Altimeter" stuck in my head in the shower today.

Sucks that Tim Taylor died, they probably had tons more good music in them.

greedrex 06.30.2009 02:19 PM

i think they're annoying.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 06.30.2009 02:21 PM

Well they are an incredibly bratty sounding band. But that's what I love about them.

greedrex 06.30.2009 02:26 PM

God knows I TRIED. Really hard. But not for me. I can see the sex appeal; akin to AOR.

godsfavoritedog 06.30.2009 02:43 PM

I have Hissing Prigs. I think I've listened to it a grand total of one time. Maybe it's time to try again.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 06.30.2009 02:55 PM

Hissing Prigs is good, but Smack Baby Bunny and Bonsai Superstar are better IMO.

Derek 06.30.2009 03:08 PM

Brainiac are awesome! Bonsai Superstar and Hissing Prigs are insane records... Smack Bunny Baby is good also but not as unique or special as the other two.

Yeah, shame that he died, I'd assume the album they would have made if he didn't die would be their masterpiece.

Here's two great threads I made about them :)

In retrospect, I think I like Bonsai Superstar better. Prigs has 40k Man and Nothing Ever Changes and Hot Seat Can't Down though......

VINCENT COME ON DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!

They're an amazing band. Check out Six Finger Satellite's early stuff, too, if you like BRainiac. It's a lot harder but similiarly weird and synthy.

I really like this one ep by Brainiac, can't even remember the name.. Internationale I think? It was produced by Kim Deal. She was apparently dating Timmy for a while. Anyway, it has this awesome song with, like, a cellphone ringtone for some of its length, and it collapses into the noisiest, weirdest thing they ever did. It also has GO FREAKS GO! on it, which is one of their best songs.

Really consistently great band.

Yeah, I posted my stellar contributions in those threads.
Check ->THIS<- site for free dvds of audio and video recordings, the guys running that project are saints.

p.s. the guitar solo in "I could own you" kills me everytime.

I love Hissing Prigs. Shame I missed them live, they blew away The Breeders when a friend saw them.

HaydenAsche 07.03.2009 10:33 AM

Yeah, dude. Brainiac is fucking fantastic. Hot Seat Can't Sit Down is such a good fucking song.

sarramkrop 07.03.2009 11:24 AM

Ew.

Yeah, the Bonsai Superstar is a lot better than Hissing Prigs... I dunno why you'd think differently! I still love Hissing Prigs though... it's a great record.
