Boredoms

I know they have been mentioned here plenty of times, and maybe I am just beating them into the ground, but I am OBSESSED with them right now. All I have is Soul Discharge '99 (Japanese Release) but I've listened to it exclusively for the past two days, minus a little DDN this morning to help me ease into the day. Anything else by them I need to check out?

batreleaser 03.21.2008 02:47 PM

yes, everything. pop tatari is their best noise rock record (all their early stuff is more noise rock) and super aw, super roots ep's, and mostly vision creation newsun (my favorite by them) is their best psychedelic trance oriented stuff. you cant go wrong with them really.

They came through here last weekend and I didn't have the cash to get tickets. I'm kind of annoyed with my friends as it were they who dragged me around spending money. Also my roommate who tells me that we have bills but refuses to tell me how much. Blah blah blah, money problems.

i missed their show in boston by a few days. my brother said it was incredible. he said soft circle and black pus ripped it too.

I used to run a boredoms review site before I realized nobody gives a fuck, check it out: http://www.geocities.com/boreviewx/boredoms.html

I'd reccomend super ae because it's their best album, vision creation newsun because it's my favorite album, and chocolate synthesizer amongst others.

Everyneurotic 03.21.2008 11:38 PM

everything they do, their side projects included.

i'm seeing eye in like a month and i can't wait!

batreleaser 03.21.2008 11:47 PM

whats everyones fave boredoms spin off bands?

well maybe spinoff is a bad word, but bands that were formed by one time boredoms members...

for me its gotta be omoide hatoba just edging out zeni geva by a scotch.

Everyneurotic 03.22.2008 12:15 AM

hmmm, i don't really count zeni geva, never think of them like that, but hey, they are essential.

if we go by that logic, then corrupted is tops in there too!

grind orchestra are awesome, rovo are awesome, omoide hatoba are awesome, ooioo are awesome of course, hanatarash are awesome, ufo or die are awesome, hanadensha are awesome too. fuck let's rather talk about weak side bands.

noise ramones are pretty weak, same with z-rock hawaii (if it counts).

batreleaser 03.22.2008 12:20 AM

hanatarash and ufo or die are before, im talkin dudes who left boredoms and started their own bands. that was kinda unclear im sorry about that. ive never heard grind orchestra? wats their deal?

Everyneurotic 03.22.2008 12:34 AM

it's atr's band, they play like super ae/vcn but rockier, harder and more improvised. they have like one or two albums and i think they all are live.

batreleaser 03.22.2008 01:06 AM

sounds pretty cool, ill check it out

atsonicpark 03.22.2008 06:57 AM

I like omoide hatoba better than Boredoms.

really? i thought boredoms were youre fave...

i like em both but just the evolution of boredoms from noise punk spazzes to tribal psychedelic trance mongers is astounding in itself.

I agree. Although I am somewhat new to the Boredoms, I've always appreciated a band that can transform and change while still maintaining a sound that is all their own.

Anybody know where to find some tour dates for them btw?

barnaclelapse 03.22.2008 01:34 PM

I'll have to check them out, too.
