Discarding rock music alltogheter

It really feles like it.I never really seem to get any pleasure out of it anymore, unless we are talking my idea of the titans.Booh!

You don't dig any rock at all?

Savage Clone 10.02.2006 06:35 PM

Someone will always pull you back.
Being dismissive of rock is just as silly of being dismissive of music with drum machines or anything else.
I went through a pretty huge "anti-rock" phase when I was 19-21, but there were still rock bands that could blow my mind even then. There always are.

Glice 10.02.2006 06:38 PM

I concur with Dr S. Clone. I often shoot my mouth off about being bored of guitars, but they're such bloody pervasive things. I don't think of rock as my main thing these days, I seem to be in a very classical place right now (which is arguably a more ambiguous term than 'rock'), but I still come back for a bit of Yngwie now and then. Yes, Yngwie, you heard.

Norma J 10.02.2006 06:38 PM

It's only rock 'n' roll but I like it.

LittlePuppetBoy 10.02.2006 06:38 PM

rock is good. You can't reject an entire genre. I used to feel that way about rap, but now I'm listening to NWA and Dalek and Ghostface.

porkmarras 10.02.2006 06:41 PM

Drones i'm talking about not listening to anymore rock music.I'll dive into world music for a while.Again.

Norma J 10.02.2006 06:43 PM

Sometimes your threads are shit.

Savage Clone 10.02.2006 06:43 PM

These things are cyclical for me. I go through massive phases where all I want to hear is Indian classical music or folk music, but then the weather turns cold and I yearn for evilness and corpse paint.

porkmarras 10.02.2006 06:45 PM

It must be the autumn season. The changing of the skin.

Rob Darken knows how to dress, doesn't he?
He has ditched the corpsepaint, but still seems to love a good scowl.
I love Graveland.

Burzum is pretty good for giving good doses of the rock and the seriously non-rock if you're feeling conflicted.

Hip Priest 10.02.2006 06:54 PM

Scenes seem to become invigorated at different times. I remember indie being awesome, then rap being great (Ice Cube, PE etc) then sliding a bit, but at the same time death metal spawned its best stuff (early Deicide, Nocturnus), then indie was great for a while again, before dance took over etc etc etc. As long as there's people like APhex Twin, David Sylvian, The Fall, Sonic Youth etc as constant markers of greatness, things'll be OK. You just have to ride the waves, or something.

Oh, he might be a hateful, hateful man, but he sure knows how to make an ace tune.

I'm still all about this chappy, Malefic from Xasthur.

Savage Clone 10.02.2006 06:56 PM

Xasthur is my favorite of the newer Black Metal people. I have heard very little that I liked more since Burzum.

porkmarras 10.02.2006 06:56 PM

I mean, fucking hell!I'm entranced by Burzum at the moment.

Savage Clone 10.02.2006 06:57 PM

I treasure my Burzum LPs. Some of my favorite music ever.
I used to also have that 6LP picture disc box set, but had to sell it a few years back. That was a beautiful item.

porkmarras 10.02.2006 07:00 PM

It's either that or listening to indian/asian/whatever music at the moment.Nothing else does the trick.Never does.

Glice 10.02.2006 07:01 PM

It's a little too compelling this copy pasting silly black/ death/ doom metal pictures.

I'm quite fond of Nortt aswell, who, older viewers may remember, did a split with Xasthur.
