I'm grateful if someone can type a summary about what Steve says about analog and digital recordings cause it's very hard to me understand him...just understand that it depends to the gear quality......but what exactly he says about the resolution? thanks

IS that the thing at a univercity??
CAuse that thing is way rad, specially the thing he says about drums compressed sounding like mechanical sneezes.

Steve Albini's main reasons against digital:
lack of compatibility between formats
quick disintigration of digital tapes
recording is limited by whatever resolution it is at: with analog, if the playback technology gets better, you can hear records at a higher fidelity than they were originally listened to at. Digital doesn't allow that.

About compression, he pretty much said it is overused. Since compression evens out the volume in the track, it takes away from dynamics of playing.

He was also talking alot about how recording engineers think really highly of themselves and try to impress their tastes onto their client's music.

thanks alot SpectralJulianIsNotDead it's exactly the contrary of what they said when 5y ago I worked in a recording studio. ehehh I guessed it! I think 2 different schools.....I'm feeling completely agree with this one of course.
